We leave in small town, Minnesota and need to fly out of Minneapolis to Orlando. I see all these great fares from all parts of the country except Mpls.

Anyone else think fares from Minnesota are not great. The cheapest fare I've seen is on NW and Suncountry this summer at $l7l. pp.(Odd time connections)

I would like to fly out from Rochester, but fares are way too high.

I agree that fares out of MSP to MCO don't seem to be as good as those from other parts of the country. It's either NWA, Sun Country or charter if you want to go non-stop.

Since we usually go in late fall or in the winter, we strongly prefer to go non-stop. Don't like the charter choices - times are not usually convenient and most of them seem to stuff more seats in the plane than the commercial airlines do. (I hate having a stranger's head in my lap! LOL!) Weather is always a concern at that time and I just don't want to worry about weather in the "connecting city" in addition to worrrying about weather here in Minneapolis.

If I can find something non-stop for around $200 each, I consider myself very lucky. Right now, it looks like $226.50 is the best rate we're going to get for our 2/02 trip. Was able to get $211.50 for our 11/01 trip.

Did join NWA's club to get discounts and have also used the Happenings/Entertainment discount.

Not much else we can do unless MSP attracts some new airlines. Wish Southwest or JetBLue would come here.

Hi, thanks for the rejply, Carol. What type of NW club are you referring to? do you mean the ff miles one?

We booked Minneapolis to Orlando at $98 RT on United. There are deals out there you just have to look a lot. we checked travelocity every day for 3 months. 2 weeks ago they had the sale. We go for 3 weeks in October to November

We live near Duluth and prefer not to drive the MSP to leave. The ticket prices from Duluth at not good.

Last year I thought we got a great deal. $301 per ticket on American going through ORD to MCO. I will in future try to avoid ORD at all costs!

I really recommend QIXO to check airfare. It works great!

Good Luck,

The big thing is to just keep checking....I also got $211 roundtrip from MSP to MCO directly at good departure/arrival times in November.......Keep checking

I also got $211 to MCO at good times on Sun Country. I agree that we still need more competition up here. Sun Country I think has done great in trying to compete with NWA; I know I fly them as much aspossible because I think competition is good. But NWA islike the 4th biggest airline in the country and knows it. They will try and charge you as much as they can get away with. We do need at least one more national airline in here that goes direct to MCO, but NWA has such a lock on the airport and gates and stuff I think it would be hard. I am sure they look at resident stats and stuff and know that Minnesotans are some of the highest educated people int he country, hence NWA probably thinks we make more than anyone else inthe country and that we can afford higher airfare. Just the type of psychology they would subscribe to...
