Hi:

We are now 32 days from our WDW trip, and I want to do something for a family count down...any suggestions???:jumping1:

at the end of each week, have someone in your family pick their favorite Disney Movie!! It will be a great way to count down the few weeks you have left plus put your kids in the Disney Spirit!!!

This isn't really a countdown, but my local grocery stores sell the GIANT Mickey and Minnie mylar body balloons which I am going to have in the kitchen so that it will be the first thing befor off for the day. They usually last for a couple of weeks. Disney is sooooo close!

I make countdown cards for our trips. I print them on the computer, business card size, with a different character clip art on each day. We change the card during breakfast.

When I traveled with work and my kids were young, I would make a paper chain to show how many days were left until I returned. You could do the same for disney. Write the number of days left until you leave on each chain and then they tear off a paper each day. The chain gets shorter and shorter the closer you get.

I actually have this hanging on my wall in my house right now, I went to Home Depo and got those Mickey head paint cards and I made a count down out of that. Every day I tear one off the wall with a great big smile!

We made a count down chart out of cardstock paper and stickers and hung it on the back of our front door. I cut our a large Mickey head using a salad plate and glass. I went on the computer and found a picture of the GF (where we were staying) and put it on the head and then put the date we were leaving using smaller Mickey heads on that and taped cardstock all the way down to the bottom of the door. I went to Archivers and found pre-cut
Mickey heads and put a number on each one and glued them to a small clothes pin and attached them to the chart. I surprised my kids with the chart when they got home from school and let them do the stickers and put the heads on. We came up with a nightly ritual that involved the same clap every time we did it. Whoever thought of it first that night would just start the clap and the rest of us would hear it and come to the front door to remove the next head. We solved the who gets to do it issue by giving one child the odd days and the other the even(which of course only works if you have 2 kids like we do) By the time we got to the top of the chart the nightly excitement level was through the roof. We had great fun and started doing it at 50 days out.
We also did the 10 day countdown in the Birnbaums WDW Kids edition. My kids had loads of fun picking food and decorating the table for the special dinner. They just loved that countdown so much we have done it for both of our trips. If you don't want to buy it, try the library, and if all else fails let me know and I'll give you the countdown from my book.
Have fun with whatever you decide to do.

We are going to do the paper chain links with the Disney characters on the links. Then we will pull off one chain link each day symbolizing one day closer to Disney. I found the idea on a Disney site, if you pm I can email you a copy, that is if you want to do that.
