Eating in the park is so expensive I'm wondering if there's any good, cheap eats close to HOJO.

Mimi's Cafe right across the street from HoJo is a good value. Lots of good reviews. Another is Millie's but more of Denny's type food but still decent nonetheless. Avoid Ihop, Denny's and especially Captain Kidd's.

I hate to say this is a drawback of staying at Hojo, it puts you are the end of the road so to speak.

the choices will be better and more if you go right when exiting DLR onto Harbor.

WE always stop at Shakey's pizza which is just down the street and over the overpass. The prices are great, and their crust is yummy!

I second going to Mimi's, which is right next to HoJo. The portions are huge and big enough to share. If you join their eClub, you can even get a coupon for a free breakfast entree (but don't sign up too early because they expire about a week after they email it to you). They also have prix fixe lunch and dinner meals for $7.99 and $12.99 respectively. You can't go wrong with Mimi's :thumbsup2

Mimi's is right across the street. Millies is next door to that but I don't care for it. They have these huge stuffed toys for kids but they're all stained and nasty and it kinda grossed me out while trying eat and keeping my son from touching them plus the food was kind of yucky. McD's is next. Denny's and Ihop are a little further down, both are fine and typical for what they are. There is a Tony Romas just past Dennys. AVOID Capt. Kidds like the plague...nastiest food I've ever had!

I really want to try Mimi's we are staying at fairfield inn so really close! I have heard so many bad things about Capt. Kidds that I am so scared of even looking at the place!!! haha

I need suggestions for a good good good! mexican restaurant. My dh and I love mexican food and have find good places in a couple states but here in Hawaii no luck! just average.

thank You

We really like the chicken nachos at Tortilla Jo's in DTD (dine-in, not the outside counter service). Two people can split it and call that dinner. The rest of the menu seems pricey so we haven't ventured beyond the nachos to be honest.

A little further from DTD there is a counter service place called Los Sanchez, which is on Garden Grove Blvd south of DLR. The easy way to get there is go south on Disneyland Drive (the street between GCH and PPH) until it ends at GG Blvd. Turn right then an immediate left into the parking lot. They have indoor seating and the place is always busy, which should tell you what you need to know.

Even further away in the city of Orange is the Chili Pepper, which is on Main St just south of Chapman. Great prices, fast service, and a pretty good Rosarita Margarita.

Mimi's is delish!!!! Huge portions, well priced, we eat at our local Mimi's often. :) Millie's is good but yes, it's more like Denny's. We like the Denny's on Harbor, it's really close to the parks, service is super fast (in and out in under an hour usually) and the prices are normal Denny's prices. Avoid the Captain Kidd's, it's just gross and disgusting, the food is just nasty. I had a salad there, the lettuce was wilted and see thru, the only thing I actually ate from the salad was the cheese on top, the croutons, maybe the cherry tomatoes, maybe the onion & cucumber but iirc the cukes were slimy and gross too. :( I was not happy with that at all.
For Mexican I'm sure there is a ton of good stuff down there but in our experience Tortilla Joe's is not one of them. We actually prefer Rancho Del Zocalo in DLR to TJ's, it made DBF and I sick. :( But the locals will have more ideas on a good mexican place, we usually stick pretty close to the parks when we eat in anaheim. :)

Thank You for the suggestions, so far I have read mix reviews about tortilla jo's and Los sanchez gets good reviews :thumbsup2

thanks

I agree with Mimis...good prices and large portions. The bread basket and muffins are YUM!

While at HOJOs this month we ordered pizza which was in their guest services directory. Can't remember the name but it was yummy.
