My kids are in 1, 2 and 5th grade, so we don't want a pre-school looking container. I like to send their milk to school instead of having them buy it.

So I'm looking for a sturdy, plain-looking, keep-milk-cold-til-lunch kind of container that doesn't cost the earth.

Does it exist?? :confused3

Many thanks!

Funtainers. They are made by Thermos, and usually around $12.99. They don't leak, and are great about keeping things hot or cold.

Yup, funtainers. Come in solid or 'fun' prints. Really any Thermos brand or insulated drink canister will work.

Normally I'd recommend Funtainer but ours has been leaking to the point that we stopped using it. I would go to REI and look at their non-BPA containers. They have several metal ones that are similar to the Funtainers but get good reviews and don't seem to have a problem with leaking. We are currently using a non-insulated Camelbak for our 5 year old. He only carries water so I won't worry about it being cold for school. I believe Camelbak does have a metal version, though.
