Well, at least I thought it was a good deal, so I thought I'd share it with you, incase it saves anyone else some money.
If you have ever been a civil servant, or are currently a civil servant, or work for anything that used to be civil service, ie BT, Post Office etc....or anyone in your family fits that criteria, then you can join the Civil Service Motoring Association (CSMA), which then qualifies you for substantial discounts on various products.
I saved a packet on my car insurance with CSMA-Frizell, which at £235 was over £100 cheaper than I could get anywhere else I tried.
But, the reason for my posting here was that CSMA have preferential rates on overseas car hire via Holiday Auto's. You have to go into the csma web site, enter your membership number, then use their link to the holiday Autos web site.
I have just booked 14 days all inclusive car rental from Orlando Airport on a 7 seater van, Chrysler Voyager type vehicle. The package includes all the extra insurance that we would term "comprehensive", and all airport taxes etc. The hire car vendor was actualy Alamo.
The cost, was what I think is a very reasonable £359, which is only £180 a week.
I tried going direct to the holiday autos web site, and without the csma discount, it came to exactly £400 (which I still think is good value). So I saved £41 with my membership benefit.
This rental package may not be for everyone, and they dont do a basic package without SLI and the other extras. But it suits me as I like not having anythnig to worry about if I have a bump.
CMSA membership costs about £15 per year, so its been a very productive £15 for me.
If anyone is elligible for csma membership, and wants me to try getting a car hire quoute for them using my membership link to holiday autos, then just PM me and ill be happy to do it. Theres no point I suppose in joining csma first, just to get a qoute, when I can do it for you and then you can decide if the savings are worth joining to get.
