Good Chicken Tenders Return

Yes
It is well reported that American chicken is not allowed in EU / UK.

Chlorine washed chicken has been banned in The EU since 1997.

The issue came back into the news when The UK voted to leave EU. There were fears that American chicken would be imported and UK politicians were very clear that they would not allow it.

UK will not import chlorinated chicken from US, ministers say
I wonder if another issue could be how Europeans prepare chicken. My son was part of a group of American students who spent time in France and Spain and an "issue" they had was chicken in restaurants was served medium, while it was still pink. They learned to order it well done, although they got a lecture from a waiter in one restaurant that "this is not McDonalds, chicken should never be cooked more than medium". They walked out.

This year was my first Disney cruise post covid from the UK and the chicken tenders sucked! They were definitely more processed chicken and the batter was weird. I cruised many many times with Disney pre covid in the Med and from the UK and the chicken tenders were the same as the ones in the parks on all of those cruises so I was very disappointed. I assumed they had run out of those and then had to use UK/European suppliers

I’ve been to 60 countries including France and Spain multiple times and never had chicken served pink, unless it was on the bone still. Are you sure it wasn’t duck?

I'm not sure what a list of banned foods has to do with the topic.
Nor I. That post has been removed. @Bad Pink Tink 2.0 if you want to argue about differences in food standards country to country please take it to a different forum. We don't import some Irish foods into the US either, but that's irrelevant to folk being happy to have their nuggies back.

When the ships are in Europe they use European food suppliers and have to comply with EU food regulations. Any American food items which do not comply can not be used. So Disney can not import the chicken tenders , they have to buy ones from European manufacturers.

I don’t think this js accurate. I’ve attended Q&A sessions on Carnival and Royal; most food severed onboard the ships is procured and sourced from the USA (last November, Royal said that number was 80%). The items are delivered to port via barge. Only highly perishable and items it didn’t make sense to ship (like water/ soda/ some alcohol) were procured locally. (But because it takes up to a month from the time an item is ordered and delivered, sometimes they have to replenish locally).

Also, the cruise lines serving Los Angeles regularly procure produce and fresh eggs from their stops in Mexico. These items cannot be brought into the USA, but as long as they stay on the ship they’re fine. Probably the same thing in Europe - the items never leave trade zones so technically they haven’t entered Europe (in getting off the barge and onto the ship).

Because DCL is much smaller, it may make more sense for them to source locally. I know that the chicken tenders served on the EBTA in May, appeared to be the same ones sold throughout WDW.

Nope, chicken. It was the 15th annual French class annual trip and the teacher said she forgot to warn her students about this. So she had some experience with it. Things are just done differently.

EDIT: I just Googled it, and pink Chicken is a common complaint of Americans traveling in France in particular. So yours may be the unique experience .

Only when they run out of American products. We did a 7 earlier this year where they still had the (tasty) American chicken tenders. We also did the WBTA where the ones they had were awful, they tasted like the worst possible cheap supermarket own brand. Everyone - European and American agreed they were bad.

This makes me laugh. Europe / UK has far higher food standard regualtions. No artificial chemicals are allowed and chicken is not allowed to be chlorine washed.

American palates are so messed up due to the all the chemicals in your food that you think the American chicken tenders are better.
I am from originally Europe and there quite a few times a year still. Aware that the standards are higher. Some things just taste better when they are made the way American's make them.

Don't fall off your soapbox.

The good chicken tenders have returned to the Disney Dream. They seemed to have exhausted the ones that were in the Dream in the Med. My entire family is thrilled and insisted that I report back! Happy cursing and Thanksgiving everyone!

*please excuse the duplication if this has already been confirmed and discussed on another thread
Happy cursing indeed!!! :rotfl2:
