Where are some good places in MK and Epcot that you can have a nice meal without spending too much? I'm thinking more counter service than a sit down meal, but if there are any good places to sit down and eat without spending too much that would be great too.

I've only made 2 PS's since our trip is short (2 days), one for lunch and one for breakfast. So I'm looking more for dinner and lunch. Keep in mind it's me, DH and DD (9 mos). I'd appreciate your suggestions and help!

We like Pecos Bills burger and fixings bar. Not too bad for prices and food is same.

Plaza Restaurant servies huge portions which can easily be split.

Columbia Habor House is good too.

hercamore, thanks for the suggestions! But I'm not familiar with the locations of the places you mentioned.... could you tell me where they are? Thanks!

Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland is one of my favorites. They have a wide variety of choices as well as a toppings bar, and the prices are very reasonable.

Plaza Restaurant is at the end of Main St. on your right. Just follow until the stores turn into Tomorrowland. There is also a Plaza Pavillion, that is counter service. Portions are huge at P.R., it's a nice place to take a load off your feet.

In Epcot I would try any of the country counter service places. One of our favorite things to do is get fish and chips at the walk-up window in the UK, then go grab a seat in the courtyard to listen to British Invasion (with a cold one too of course). We do this at least twice a trip.

You can get lunch at pretty much any counter service location for about $15-17.

One of our favorites is the Sunshine Food Fair in the Land pavilion at Epcot.

Another vote for Cosmic Ray's in MK too!

Last week I had an early dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine-In @ MGM. Chose two selections from the appetizer menu, which made for a nice, filling meal for under $10. I chose the "Steak and Potato Soup" (a nice hearty beef stock with corn, potatoes, slices of beef, some horseradish cream, and a potato wedge) and the Sci-Fi house salad (a large plate full of mixed baby greens with crumbled blue cheese, walnuts, and a vinagrette dressing).
Much less expensive than getting a dinner entree, I had plenty, and it was quick too.

I had never thought to do this before, and will try it again at other table service restaurants.

I tend to think you get better quality food at the sit-down locations, and since the portions are so large my husband and I will often split entrees to save a bit of money. Of course, we tend to like some of the same things, which makes this more easy. For example, we went to Mama Melrose's at MGM for lunch one day, split an individual pizza and salad, and both came out satisfied (and well rested, which is usually not the case after battling the crowds at the counter-service places).

We like the Sunshine Season Food Fair in the Land pavilion of EPCOT, since there is a little something for everyone, and less of the burger/fry variety.
We have also gone to Starlight Rays Cosmic Cafe a couple of times. You can get soup/sandwichs, burgers, and chicken among other things there. Its a fun place to have lunch!
:D

At Epcot, go to Yakatori House in Japan. Nice and quiet gardens, baby will enjoy some down time here. Food is good. No big selection but a nice economical meal.

do they serve sushi?

The place by the American Experience in Epcot is pretty good. It has chicken fingers, hot dogs, and I think burgers. It has lots of seating and it's always nice and air conditioned, too.

Another vote for Starlight Ray's Cosmic Cafe. We like the variety of the choices. Yakitori House is one of my kid's favorites (DD 8 & DS 7). They love the terriyaki skewers and sitting in the gardens by the water is relaxing. They also serve a limited sushi selection (maki and tuna roll)

I believe the Matsonomu Lounge (I know I didn't spell that right!) in Japan has good sushi, and is a great place to see Illuminations.

Hello there! We big fans of Cosmic Rays in MK. You get a little "entertainment" with your meal. It's a counter service restaurant that has burgers and hotdogs - also veggie burgers and chicken. As far as Epcot goes - tons of choices! We really like the counter service restaurant in Morocco (Tangierine Cafe I believe). The cart outside of Biergarten (Germany's restaurant) is pretty tasty. And not to forget the open faced sandwiches at Norway's bakery. Oh yeah, France's bakery has lovely ham and cheese sandwiches (among other things) and reasonably priced wine. We can usually make a pretty fine meal with these counter service eateries coupled with some tasty beverages. (Espresso from Morocco is splendid - even more so with a little shot of Frangelico!) The sit-down restaurants are more expensive but the portions are often large enough to split. Or perhaps make dinner out of a few appetizers - we do it all the time. Enjoy!!

At Magic Kingdom, we really like Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square (counter service, but nice seating area and great clam chowder in a bread bowl) or Pecos Bill's in Frontierland (nice fixings bar for burgers).

At Epcot, we like Cantina de San Angel in Mexico (nice patio on the lagoon) and Yorkshire County Fish Shop in England (excellent fish & chips!)

All these are counter service.

Pecos Bills is my favorite counter service place. Plan your meal time around a parade, arrive about 30 min prior to the parade (or 15 min if it is running from main street first, ask a CM which dsirection the parade is running). We actually ate there 2X in one day to catch both parades.

Most of the WS counter service places in Epcot get good reviews.

Plaza Restaurant serves sandwiches and burgers that are so huge you can easily share. Although it is a sit down restaurant the prices are less than the other sit down restaurants in MK.

We just returned from 5 nights at the Contemporary & I have to say that the best deal out there is the Fort Wilderness Trails Inn Buffet! We hopped on the boat at the Contemporary marina, it was a scenic 10 minute ride over to Ft. Wilderness. The area is beautiful. The food at the buffet is delicious, my family loved it! :D It was well worth the $15/adult, $7/child for the dinner buffet. They have a campfire every night at 8p at Ft. Wildnerness too, along with a great petting Zoo. It is now a must do for us every time we go.

But I suppose my earlier post was too.
If you're in Downtown Disney, head over to the Marketplace. There you will find Gourmet Pantry, a bakery, deli, and gourmet market all in one. They have a daily selection of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, coffee and desserts.
Right next door is Wolfgang Puck Express, which is excellent, has a wide variety, is fast, and the portions are big enough to share.
