I nearly choked when I tried to find decent rental rates for January....I used all the Mousesaver.com codes and coupons and still could not find anything close to reasonable...we are arriving at noon on New Years Day so I expected rates to be pretty high but $400+ for a week on a midsize car was over the top.
I ended up checking Hotwire and saw that they had a fullsize car for $171 all in for that week. I was a bit afraid to use Hotwire since they use Enterprise now as well as the standard 5 they have used for years and I was afraid we would get stuck shuttling over to them. So I tried a low ball bid on Priceline and got a fullsize car for that week for about $160 all in from Alamo.
Did a little better (about $148 for a full size) for the last week of January when I will be back with my mother and sisters.
While I have certainly gotten better rental rates than that in the past that was by far the best rates I have seen for these 2 trips coming up.
Looks like the best rates were for compact through full size vehicles on Hotwire. I have no idea on Priceline since all I bid for was full size.
