Funny how things go full circle
Airports to see rules for using private screeners

I will say that I was not for federal screeners in the first place, that the issue could have been dealt with by still having private screeners with federal oversite, removing the responsibilty of the screeners from the airlines and turning it over to the airports, and by having more mandatory training (retraining) and exercises.

I tend to agree with you Jas. I'm never in favor of adding thousands more to the government payroll but do understand that after 9/11 something had to be done quickly. The system now definitely isn't perfect and perhaps if there was adequate supervision and training the private screeners could do a sufficient job and that would be the best solution. On the other hand, that old saying comes in "you get what you pay for". If you go with the low bidder for security paying rock bottom wages, you are not going to get the best and brightest let alone attentive people.
It seems either way, government with the delays of getting the people or private industry with questionable people but hopefully good training and more importantly supervision have their pitfalls.
