good buffet vs. bad buffet locations

I have to say I'm realy not a fan of buffets, but Disney does a great job with them. Actually, it's the only place in the "real" world that I'll willingly eat at a buffet. That being said, I really enjoyed the breakfast at Cape May Cafe. IMO, best Character Breakfast on property. The only place I'll actually suggest for a dinner buffet is Biergarten. (Note: I haven't tried Cape May Cafe's dinner or Boma, but I've heard good things about both.)

The Hollywood & Vine buffet was by far the worst buffet we have ever had at Disney. I would never return. As far as the good buffets, we enjoyed the food at Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare.

Our favorite buffet is Boma. Our least favorite is Donald's Breakfastosaurus - BUT we've only eaten at the old one in the old location. It was absolutely horrible, we left hungry because we couldn't even eat what they had out. I'm hoping they've improved it since they moved it.

OK ... We have reservations for Hollywood & Vine.... Could you tell me what, Specifically you didn't like about it ? My husband is picky abut freshness and options of food on a buffet, so I would LOVE to be prepared....

Thanks Everyone....

We went to H&V for the fantasmic package last april, and I honestly don't know what everyone is complaining quite so much about. Was it the best? No way. We loved Tusker breakfast, and even Chef Mickey dinner foods better. But I would put the food on a par with our food experience at Crystal Palace. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with is the noise level is excessive, because the place is designed like a 50's cafeteria, linoleum floors, hard metal tables and chairs; the tablecloths don't do enough to muffle the noise and it is VERY loud. This was my plate at H&V:

Unfortunately I don't remember everything there, but I see salmon at the top, fruit, green beans, yummy mashed potatoes, steamed mussels. i don't remember what the thing on the bottom is.

I do remember the desserts were fantastic!

Keep in mind we're not "foodie" people, we're more meat and potatoes. That combined with so many reviews setting the bar low for H&V probably helped us being pleasantly surprised. But don't cross it off your list because of the bad food reviews. I do believe it's a matter of opinion...

Anyone ever try Shades of Green's buffet? I just read about it and I can't believe how reasonable the prices are. Just wondering how the food is.

I've only done breakfast- and it was ok. Certainly filling, and a good value. Nothing just spectacular- it had the basics covered. The bacon was really greasy and gross IMO, but I think that was my biggest complaint.

Cape May Buffet was my favorite and just the grounds and views from this area are breathtaking, take a walk around after dinner (to work off all the wonderful food you ate)!!! :rotfl2:

I went for dinner in June 07 and I was not really happy with it, but it's been awhile, maybe it's better now.

Trail's End (breakfast)
Crystal Palace
Liberty Tree Tavern

I've never eaten at a "bad" buffet. Some of my favorites are Cape May Cafe (both breakfast and dinner), Chef Mickeys (a lot of fun but food is just ok), Crystal Palace (both breakfast and dinner), and Boma for dinner.

I couldn't have said it better! :thumbsup2
