Going down for vacation and since it's my fiances birthday and she has been hinting at getting a tattoo I was going to take her while there.

What are some of the top shops/artists around the area?

Personally, I don't recommend getting a tat on vacation. Think about it - wherever she gets it, shes going to be sore for a bit - not fun while walking around Disney or anywhere else for that matter. Also, depending on what it is she wants, they may not have the time to do it, or draw up the art work, etc. Lots of places require appointments, and you may have to make 2-3 trips there because of that. I was going to Baltimore on vacation one year, and I was going to get a tat while I was there (theres a huge tattoo place there), but for all of the above reasons, I opted out, and got it close to home.

True all all points.

I was going to schedule for the last day of our trip (our relax day) which is a Monday. I have called several around the area and they are all accepting appointments for that Monday. She already knows what she wants and it is pretty small so I would be floored if they took multiple visits to complete.

Since I already have the image she wants I was going to email it over to whoever could do it and see if they could draw something up and email me back. I dont know if they will do that but wanted to try.

Also, we live in Tallahassee so just a stones throw away from Orlando. Mostly, we wanted to check on shops down there because we have only heard bad things from the ones up here.

There is Hart & Huntington Tattoo at Citywalk at Universal Studios.

I would still do it at home so you have adequate time to research and find a reputable artist whose work you have seen.

We were at Citywalk last month and poked into H&H to check it out. They were tattooing people right at the cramped counter. Um no thanks.

I would also only get a tattoo or piercing at home at a reputable shop that I both had recommendations for and was able to check out myself ahead of time.

That's what I was explaining. We have only heard bad things about the shops in our areas.

They do have some nicely done tattoos on their website but we cannot seem to find anyone in town who has one of those nice ones. Most everyone has some complain/bad tattoo.

So I was going to see if anyone here had recommendations for any shops in Orlando and I would start researching them. Doesn't seem like I am getting anywhere though. :confused3

I think that's because of your first post which makes it sound like you're going to be in Orlando for vacation, not that you live close by and are just looking for a reputable store. I would start a new thread explaining all of that up front, perhaps titling "Orlando locals - good tattoo shops" Most of us who check these boards are not local, so we're only thinking about our own experience, in which it would be stupid to get a tattoo on vacation. Since you're so close, why not check out places while you're there and be able to check their artists and work, and then you can make an informed decision?

Check out Rob G of Tiger Tattoos in Kissimee. My husband had one done by them at a tattoo party in West Palm Beach.

I got my first tattoo on vacation in Hawaii.... At Hart and Huntington.
I got it the next to last day. Was told I could not go in the ocean (no problem). It was a great experience. (expensive though!)

I have had another tattoo since that time (3 years ago) and plan another one soon (here at home though).
