Has anyone here had luck finding good airfare from Houston to Orlando? I am dreaming :cloud9: of maybe making a quick trip to the World for my DS's 4th bday (in September). My DH won't be able to take a lot of time off work, so driving won't work, we'd have to fly. I haven't flown in years, so don't know much about where to find good rates! Thanks in advance :woohoo: Oh, and I don't know where this thread would belong, so by all means move it if I have it in the wrong area!

I know that this sounds crazy - i can't figure out why - but flying out of Houston to MCO in Sept thru Nov. is about 148.00 each way on Southwest. If you can get to San Antonio you can fly non-stop from San Antonio to MCO for $99.00 each way. It is a 115.00 saving per ticket. If you don't want to do that - go to the Tranportation board and there is a post that talks about a $25.00 discount for a round trip ticket on southwest - you have to go to the visit Florida website and sign up and then southwest sends you the discount code - it takes about a week to get the code. I have done it and have received the code - it was easy.

You should post this question on the Transportation board too - lots of good airline advice over there :goodvibes

Just me but I like to check everywhere before booking so first I usually look at the igougo website that checks rates from multiple websites:

http://www.igougo.com/

Plus, depending on where we're going, I'll check the Southwest website (sign up for their email specials, sign up for Ding specials), Airtran, any other airline that flies to that city, Kayak, Bookit, Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, and whew! I know, I know! Total overkill!

To help give you just a general idea of cost, looking at 9/16-9/20 (just as example dates) tonight on the Southwest website it shows nonstop flights roundtrip out of Hobby for $631.80 Total for 2 (@ $137.67 + $19.53 taxes = $157.20 x 2 = $314.40 HOU/MCO and $137.67 + $21.03 taxes = $158.70 x 2 = $317.40 MCO/HOU. $314.40 + 317.40 = $631.80) using their "Wanna Get Away" webfares.

Flight times are:

#201 Depart Houston (Hobby), TX (HOU) 8:00 AM
Arrive in Orlando, FL (MCO) 11:20 AM

#250 Depart Orlando, FL (MCO) 11:45 AM
Arrive in Houston (Hobby), TX (HOU) 1:10 PM

Airtran has one stops (no nonstops out of Hobby), and total for 2 right now is $634.60

It that about what you wanted to spend for flights? If not, keep watching for deals and hopefully something opens up :cutie:

That is pretty crazy, LoL. But hey, that's a big enough difference for me to consider it! My DS would love to go to DisneyWorld for his bday. I am going to talk to DH and see what he thinks :)

Thank you everyone for helping me out, I appreciate it! :grouphug:

We've flown AirTran and Continental to MCO. Both were great.

Traditionally, if Southwest is running a sale for the Houston market, Continental will match it! Watch for that --- it's helpful!

Good luck.

We fly out of IAH since we live very close by. We are going to Disney on Sat and we paid $238 round trip for each ticket. Unfortunately the same flight 2 years ago was only $198 but honestly for Bush I think that is about the best you can find, and that is flying Continental since that is one of their home airports so it is a direct flight and is cheaper then the other carriers. Or at least it has been for every flight we have taken both to MCO and LAX.
