Has anyone taken young children to Fantasmic? I am concerned that it might be too intense for my DDs (they will be 5 at the time of our trip). One is a little bit sensitive, but doesn't seem to mind any of the Disney villans. Does anyone have an opinion about this? :confused3 Thanks in advance!

Hi-
We took our (then) 3 3/4 yo old DS to Fantasmic and he really loved it. However, this is also a child who is not really afraid of many rides, but hates 3D attractions, like Honey I Shrunk the Audience. We sit all the way on the top row because my DH is deaf and utilizes the reflective captioning so we are back from it as well. Perhaps you could attempt to sit higher up so that if they are bothered you could leave easily?

GL!

My 2 dd's have seen it twice. Once at 14 mnts and 34 months, and then again at 22 months and 3.5 years.

My oldest is not really sensitive to villians or scary things but is of course more leery of them. No villians are allowed to sign her autograph book!

I think both times my oldest did express some concern at first but I just reminded her that it was a show and that Mickey and the good guys win. That seemed to work. They both seemed to enjoy Fantasmic. I don't think it was their favorite but they liked it enough. And my oldest certaintly loved the water parade at the end. She was talking about it today.

I've also been to the show with my neice and nephew (4 & 5). The oldest is sensitive and he really enjoyed it.

I would probably go and sit in the back in case your dd's don't like it at all and you need to scoot out of there. But I am usually in the camp of let the kids try it if they want to unless I am very very sure it would be a bad thing.

My 4 year old son enjoyed it last year as did my 2 older kids.

The only problem we had was with Honey, I Shrunk the Audience at Epcot. That was a terrible experience. Screaming, crying, breaking of 3-D glasses, bruised knee, cowering on the seat- this was from the 8 year-old who isn't normally scared of anything.

my son hated it at 5 yrs. but he had be terrified on allien (which I begged him not to ride)

The first time my boys saw it they were 6. One of mine is also very sensitive. He is the one that loved it the most. He was mesmerized.

Our DD saw it when she was 13 months old and was mesmerised! We sat further up and on the end of a row just in case we'd to make a quick exit, but she was fine.

Regarding the 3D movies - we didn't give her glasses the first time she saw them (at 13 m.o.) at 3 years old, she loved seeing the effects "close-up" with the special glasses. Maybe try Philharmagic first, to see the reaction there before trying Honey, I Shrunk The Audience. :)
