Sorry if this doesn't fit the forum...staying for first time at VWL villas 11/28-12/13 and planning to get maybe two rounds in..

Should I get tee times now or can I wait till I get there and see what the weather will be like?? If I book now can I also get the DVC golf membership over the phone??

How busy are the courses that time of year??

Any suggestions on which course to use for new 'duffer' :D

Thanx...............

I have played anout 10 rounds this year and I would suggest you get a tee time. In fact I'll be there Nov 10, 11 and 12, 2002 just for GOLF with a few friends. Even though they have 99 holes of golf, several courses at a time may be out due to annual maintenance. The DVC Golf deal is well worth it if you are going to play a few rounds.

Good Luck!

You can't buy the DVC golf membership until you get there, but when you calll 407 WDW-GOLf and make your tee times, tell them you are using the DVC golf badge. Tee times need to be cancelled 48 hours in advance. As far as bad weather goes, My DH started on a questionable day and when it started raining after several holes, they gave him a rain check for the full amount paid.

When to call depends somewhat on where and when you intend to play. Prime (meaning lots of people try to get them) playing times at that time of year are any before 11. Sat and Sun are more difficult to get than weekdays because many local residents play then. Also, times are usually somewhat easier to get at the Palm and Lake Buena Vista courses than others. Generally if you call 30 days or more from planned playing time you can get most "prime" times, and you can get some of those prime times by even calling day before but maybe not time you want and not first choice on course. Where you will have most difficulty if you wait till you get there are times during the first hour the course is open as many who actually want to get done in under four hours try to get those times (the later the start the longer the average round and it can get up to 5 hours because the courses attract a lot of people who apparently believe that taking 10 practice swings before every shot does more than just build confidence that is soon shattered).

If you are a single, you can call and make times and they hook you up with others automatically. As to using the DVC discount, that is good only for times after 10 and you need to figure out first how many times you will use it. The key is to make sure the total discounts you get exceed the cost of the card. The golf card, which you buy at pro shop first time you show up for a round when there, costs about $91 (which includes tax). It is good for a year. The member and up to three guests can play together and all get the discount. You usually need to play at least three rounds (or one with yourself and two guests) within a year's time to justify the cost of the card. Also be aware that there are discounts for Annual Passholders and Disney Club members (I beleive it is 20% for either) and you don't need to buy any extra card and those can be used for before 10 a.m. times.
