Can anyone tell me about golf at SSR?
In some posts, people have mentioned going through the golf course to SSR. I've got my map in front of me and I'm trying to figure this out. I've just about convinced myself to take advantage of the SSR addon deal and keep my name on the BCV list. I want to be sure and mention ;) any golf opportunities to DH.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

Here's a link to a copy of the resort map:

The Lake Buena Vista course clubhouse is #13 on this map. The clubhouse is in the same building complex as the Carriage House (front desk), restaurant and gift shop.

The course itself is obviously right near SSR, but none of the rooms currently have a view of the course. Phase 3 of the resort will include several buildings overlooking the course, but that does not yet appear on any published maps. 3 or 4 of the holes of the LBV course do currently run right through Old Key West.

Hope that helps.

As for the clubhouse/course being conveniently there, it is a point to make. However, the Lake Buena Vista course is just one of 5 WDW 18 hole courses that can be played by anyone (from on or off-site) and SSR does not have any exclusive privileges for the course.

Lake Buena Vista course is located on the same property as SSR. It is very convienent for those of us who love to golf at WDW. There are no special advantages, and the other courses are great too - but it is a great location if you are a golfer!

Thanks. I thought that was what I was seeing - the clubhouse for LBV is actually part of SSR. Certainly, makes it convenient. DH keeps talking about taking his clubs, but never has. So, we've never really checked out the golf courses. I'd heard that Disney has some excellent ones. We've not explored much of Disney beyond the parks, but we want to change.
Anyone know if they rent clubs?

They rent clubs (Titlest) and shoes (Foot-Joy) but it is pricey, $40 (steel shafts) to $45 (graphite) a round for the clubs and $7 for shoes; highly recommend you bring your own if you have them.

I finally found all the golf course stuff on the Disney site. :rolleyes2 Saw those prices for rentals. However, it looks like they rent Jr. clubs for free. I see a Daddy/daughter outing while Mom has a massage. :goodvibes
Oops! Better check out the spa at SSR.

:flower: Look into a annual golf pass. You get a card for 50.00 and get a good price on golf. 89.00 high season (winter) and 59.00 low (summer) for you and 3 other guests. 1(407)939-1313. Have fun.

Every now and then DVC members will get a special golf perk, above the card you can buy. For example, for the last few months, DVC members received free club and shoe rental. I believe it ends the end of March, and there are never any promises these perks will continue, but it is nice to see Disney recognizes its golfing DVC members!

TTFN,
Chris

I think it is a huge plus to have access to the golf clubhouse on property. I am sending my 2 cousins and their families in October and they love to golf. They will only have 1 vehicle, and are definitely bringing their clubs.
I have points at all the DVC's except VWL but narrowed it down to OKW and SSR. With the easy access to the golf clubhouse, Spa, and DTD they chose SSR.
