My wife and I are taking our 6 month old daughter to WDW for the first time this October. We'll be there Columbus Day week (Oct. 10-17). Is anyone out there interested in playing a round or two of golf? I'm thinking late morning/early afternoon. I'm a 27 handicap so I'm no scratch golfer, but not a slow player.

If it was a week later, I'd have a partner for you - my DH! We arrive on 10-16 and he'll be playing golf on 10-18 & 10-19 and volunteering at the FUANI tournament at WDW most of the rest of the week. Can anyone say "golf widow"?? Really, I don't mind and there'll still be plenty of time to do other things.

Isn't that about the time the Disney Golf Classic :scratchin (or what ever it's called now) Could be difficult getting a tee time.

Good luck and have a great trip.

I'm not a golfer but the beginnings of this thread have made me think that Disney should start a DVC Open. What a great way for members to meet and if they had an amateur level.... well, I might just try it, knowing I was in good company!

They used to have a member's tournament once or twice a year but ceased many years ago. Maybe membership got too big. I played it twice and had a blast both times. I sure wish they would return.

My DW and I will be there from 10/09 t0 10/13 for our anniversary. I would be available for anytime after 10:00 on 10/12 while my wife enjoys her gift of a day at the GF spa, however I must warn you that I have no idea of what type of handicap I have. :confused3

You see I find it is easier for me to score by the fewest balls lost-

as opposed to the fewest strokes (it keeps the numbers more manageable).

I know that a fairly new CM at HH was talking to me about trying to get that started again, at least at HH (I think his name was Matt). He'd really like to increase the golf offerings, and mentioned also the WDW member's tournament. However, he agreed that the size of the membership was why it was discontinued. At HH, golf is a popular recreation, but at WDW, people are more likely to want to do other things.

BillPA: thanks for the thought, but DH already has his tee times. He called at the 90 day mark and got them.

A member tournament does like fun. They could even have special golf events, not necessarily a tournment, through out the year. Lots of options.
