My DH wants to take DS11 golfing while I take DD6 and DD4 to the My Disney Girl Tea. My questions are:

1. Are any of the courses at DW "appropriate" for an 11 yo? He is big for his age and has been golfing for a couple of years - has taken lessons and attended golf camp in the summer - so this would not be his first or second (or 10th) time golfing.

2. If so which course would be best? We are going to MVMCP that night so DH does not want to tire him out too much.

3. We are staying at the YC - what would be the best way to get to the course?

4. We are driving so should we try to stuff the 2 golf bags into the van, or should they rent clubs?

I hope this is the right place to post this - I did not see another board where this ? would fit.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!! :flower:

Oak Trail is an option:

Since you will have a car, drive to the course. I don't think there is Disney transportation anyway. Just ask at the valet parking desk for directions.

Rentals are free for juniors (under 17). Rental rates for clubs are $55/$45 depending on the brand.

You may want to ask a bellman for his suggestion, many of them play alot and it seems like they don't golf Disney courses (from recent converstaions with them). They also are able to get you special rates many times at off property courses.

Have fun!!

I believe lbv course would be fine for him. Also when staying at a disney resort, the taxi ride from the hotel to golf course and back is part of the golf. Just have to call wdw golf for information.

You can drive with DD to tea. Disney will pay the cab fare for DH and DS to and from golf, and they'll clean the clubs, too.

As long as DH lets other people play through, I can't see any reason not to take an 11 year old golfing at WDW. (Except that it might bore him to death -- No, wait, that's me!)

Have fun at the tea! :cloud9:

Oaktrails good option, only 9 holes/36 par so it won't tire you out.. but Fantasia mini golf a good option, it is one of the hardest mini golf courses in the US. They can work on their short game I suppose.

Oh and Fantasia has 2 sections: Fantasia Gardens and Fantasia Fairways...it is the Fairways one I was referring too...unlike other mini golf it is more skill than chance "Fantasia Fairways, a one of a kind challenge putting course, is a miniature version of an actual golf course. Even the most accomplished golfer must possess both skill and luck to overcome its exaggerated contours, water hazards, sand traps, and dog leg bends. "

Thanks so much for the suggestions - DH loves to golf and has really enjoyed being able to go out with DS and play together. He has not been able to play on any of our other trips since we always did "family" things and did not separate. This is our first time doing a "girls" and "boys" activity (for some reason I do not think they would appreciate attending the Princess Tea! )

Fantasia sounds like it might be fun for them! I'll let them know about the other suggestions as well.

Thanks again!!

Try the website www.wdwgolf.com I found a lot of good info there. DH has played all the WDW courses. Any resort will transport you to the course and back for free. All you have to play is the tip for the cab. When you call for tee times they will tell you if a course is being aerated or seeded. I wouldn't worry about your boy not being good enough. My DH has played them all as a single and he has been placed with some tremendous hackers. But...it is still vacation and it is still Disney so he had a blast.

I just saw in my WDW guide a specific number for the Fantasia courses if you need more info :
407 560-4870
