Not quite sure where to post this but here goes. We will have three people golfing in our party during our December visit and I am wondering how this will work since 2 will share one cart and there will only be 1 using the other cart. Will they charge extra for that person or will they find a lone golfer to fill the foursome.

The price of your round includes cart, so the 3rd person will not pay extra. It is possible that if the course is busy they will add a single to your group to make a foursome, but they'd never make you share a cart with them. You'd just end up having 3 carts for your foursome. We did that once, DH, DS & I were playing DD came for the ride and because it was busy, they put a single with us that rode in his own cart. It was a lot of fun. Mostly likely, they'll send you out as a threesome.

The only time this would be different, is if you're playing at Disney's Oak Trail, which is a walking course, no carts allowed.

Right ... it just depends on how busy the course is on the day of your round. Most times I've played at a Disney course, there were plenty of threesomes out and about on their own ... but I'm sure like at any other course, when it gets slammed they'll max out the groups by adding a single. Since everybody's fee includes cart, you shouldn't be concerned with an extra charge.

I've always enjoyed Disney's golf courses ... unless it was the dead of July and just too freaking hot.

You will have a great time golfing! Whats your tee time? I would go early morning. Because then it is much more enjoyable.

Enjoy your round. What course are you playing? They are all great and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself.

If you end up buying food from the cart girl, guard it with your life. The animals on the courses are trained experts, and I have had squirrels jump in the cart and steal it. Once, my brother left his hot dog on the seat of the cart, and a crow grabbed it and flew away with it in the wrapper. To make it worse, the bird landed next to the green, pulled the dog out of the wrapper, and then flew away with it. One of the funniest things I have ever seen. Defintely worth the $7 he wasted on the dog:lmao:

Anyway, off topic sort of, but a funny story that i was reminded of....

We will be there from Dec 14 thru the 21'st. WE will be golfing hopefully at the course at / near Shades of Green (not Oaks Trail) and will probally get a tee time after 10 to get the discount plus make sure that it will be warmer by 10 or 11 A.M. I am not quite sure when we are allowed to book. We will be staying at VWL and I think I read that Disney will pick up the taxi fare from the hotel to the course and back. I do like to have a couple of beers while I golf and would prefer not to drive. Thanks for all the help everyone!!!

Disney's Palm & Magnolia Course (and Oak Trail) are right by SOG. Both are very nice courses, but my favorite is Magnolia. I just think it's prettier and it's got the famous Mickey bunker :cool1:

Just let Bell Services know that you have a tee time & where and they will arrange for a cab to pick you up, with a voucher that covers the cab fare. When you're done playing at the course, let the Pro Shop know and they'll get you a cab (and voucher) back to your resort.

It can get chilly in December (especially in the am) DH & DS had to get hand warmers for their pockets last December the morning they played. An 11am tee time is a good idea :goodvibes

Is this voucher for anyone and everyone that wants to take a cab? I was thinking about sort of suprising my brother and paying for a round of golf for his birthday while we are in The World.
I have no idea what kind of course he likes to play on, heck I don't even know a darn thing about golf! LOL So I guess I'm relying on some of you to show me the ropes.
He never gets a chance to play because he works all the time, he loves the game, has his own clubs, which is another wacky thing to think about, how does he bring his clubs on a plane and not have them get ruined?
I'm sure the airline people could give a frogs fat foot less about taking care of such things, so how do you all travel with them?
He would be so suprised to be able to do this, and I know he would have a ball, no pun intended. :rotfl:
I need suggestions on time of day, etc. We will be going in May, the end of May, I see there is a cut in rate the later in the day but don't know if that's a good idea since it can get pretty hot, I guess not to hot, but hot enough, right? He does like to drink a few beers when he plays, do you think that I would be able to get pay ahead of time for him to have all of this waiting for him when he gets there? I'm just not sure how to go about this.
All your advice is welcomed.

Let me try to answer your questions :goodvibes

The voucher is for anyone staying at a Disney Resort with a tee time at a Disney golf course (the website says "select Disney Resorts")

All of the courses are very nice, I'm sure your brother will just be thrilled that you did this for him and will be wowed by any of the courses :cool1:

Traveling with golf clubs isn't too bad, except for the new charge for a 2nd checked piece of luggage. As long as that's not a problem, your brother probably has or knows someone that has a hard travel case for clubs. You put the whole golf bag in it and you're set :) If he'd rather not bring his clubs, there are clubs available for rent.

Time of day is probably a personal preference. I'm not much of a morning person (neither is DH  ) and I hate to spend the extra money that could buy more rounds (of golf or drinks :drinking1 ) so we usually play right around 10am. It's nice when you start and can be quite warm when you finish up  Did make the mistake of playing the walking course Oak Trail at 3pm in August once :scared: May is still nice, not too hot, so I wouldn't worry about playing later in the day. The "beer lady" usually comes around several times, she has beer (obviously) water, soda, lunch/snacks. Make sure that he has cash with him for that.

Hope that helps :goodvibes

Chelle~

Thank you so much for answering my ?'s, I had no idea what to expect for this type of thing, I'm not sure I will be able to pull of a suprise since I would be telling my brother....."come with clubs" LOL! :rotfl:
But he might be suprised to find that I reserched the courses and his likes and dislikes in a course, so we'll have to see what I can do for this trip, I've got a couple of years to save and plan. We plan on going 2010 (May) the year my boy graduates. I'm so excited that we are all going on this trip as a family, so here's to hoping that my brother can get the money together for this trip of a life time with his family and little girl.
Thank you again! :flower3:
