Hi there—I can’t find an answer to my question anywhere, so I thought I’d ask Dis! Can non-Fort Wilderness guests rent golf carts at Fort Wilderness?

I’m devising a potential resort day at Fort Wilderness for a trip next year, and am interested in renting a golf cart from 1pm to 10pm. There’s so much to do and see—the cart would be so helfpul!

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Anyone can rent golf carts at Ft. Wilderness, and yes you are right! Ft. Wilderness is almost a destination unto itself- so much to do and see. It's my favorite!

Anyone can rent; we did a visit over to the Fort last year and rented a golf cart to explore bits we hadn't ventured to before. The rental will run from 1 pm to 11 am the following day. You obviously don't have to use it that whole period, but you won't get a discount for renting a shorter period. We finished around sunset and just parked the cart back at the drop-off point and returned the keys in the in-box.

As @karma459 & @livbeatles posted above Golf Cart rentals are open to everyone.

However advance reservations are highly recommended and can be made up to one year prior to your visit by calling (407) 824-2742. Unreserved carts may be available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sounds like I’m not the first to think of this idea. We’re thinking about renting a boat for a bit in the morning and then exploring the campground portion and stables, etc., for the rest of the day, ending with the later offering of Hoop Dee Doo, if it’s running by the time we’re going.

I did call to reserve a golf cart and was told that at this time, golf cart rentals are only available if you are staying at the Fort Wilderness campgrounds.

Yes, I believe that restricted was put in place this fall. No idea how long it be in place or if it's expected to be permanent.

Where else would you go with a golf cart if NOT staying at Fort Wilderness? I doubt Disney wants you driving on the public roads and would be a hazard to car traffic.

I don't think it has anything to do with driving outside of the campgrounds. It was quite popular for folks to rent a golf cart for the day and ride around the campground during Halloween and Christmas, to see how the campsites were decorated. Starting this past fall, only guests with a Fort Wilderness reservation can rent a golf cart, not others visitors to the campground.
