We're staying in cabins in Feb for the first time. We will have 5 kids under the age of 8 (and no car). So, wondering would it benefit us to rent golf carts? Several questions - do you actually drive your cart and leave it at the bus stops? We'll be going to the hoop-de-do, backyard bbq, other places there to eat - is the park pretty spread out, would it help out the kids as we go to these different places? Also, is disney the only place to rent from and if not who and how does that work?

Thanks - so looking forward to our kids first trip to disney!

Hi and welcome to the forums!

A golf cart is a great way to get around, you do leave them at the various places you drive to, parking is provided and plugs to charge them.

Try the search function and you will find a ton of information about golf carts, you can rent from Disney but there are outside sources available also that can be much less expensive.

And be careful driving! A search does bring up some scary posts regarding some bad golf cart behavior, rules is rules!:thumbsup2
With 5 kids you may need more than one cart or see if one of the outside sources has a 'limo' cart with extra seats. It is not safe to pile that many on one cart and the Disney popo may frown upon that. Children are all required to have a 'seat.'

You can park your cart at all the various places within FW - near the pool/campfire, both trading posts, marina area, outpost bus stop... Given that there isn't really any car parking with the Fort besides at your site/cabin (and 15 min parking at the Meadows) it's actually a lot easier to navigate within the resort with a GC if you're going to be spending a lot of time there. Of course the bus system will also get you where you need to go if a cart isn't in your budget/plans.

Golf cart thread with lots of info, including rules and offsite rental info is HERE

Very good point! Disney and Tee Time (off site) only rent 4 seater carts. While you can usually squeeze an extra small person in, if there are 7 of you total, that's probably not going to work. Golf Cart Enterprises does have 6 person carts for rent, but last I heard they still weren't delivering to the Fort. They will rent you a trailer for the cart so you can go pick it up if that will work for you. Not sure if they may have other options - might be worth a phone call.

ETA: Oops - just realized you won't have a car so picking up a cart isn't an option. Sorry.

Yes, we would get 2, possibly 3 carts. My sister and I are bringing our husbands, parents, and kids to disney for their first time - I'm not sure who is more excited - the kids or my mom ;)!!! I've been lurking on the board for several months and finally decided to post a few questions. This board has been so helpful as I've planned!

Thank you!!!

Definitely give Tee Time a call. We rented 4 carts from Kenny in November and got an excellent price and really great service. :thumbsup2

Tee Time is the way to go. I placed a reservation with Disney golf carts that are at the Bike Barn from 6/21 thru 6/30 and its 565.00. Then I called Tee Time and spoke with Kenny and got the same time frame for 270.00. And he delivers from 6am thru 9pm. I kept the reservation with Disney just in case Kenny is no longer allowed to drop off golf carts anymore. Since Disney is starting to restrict off site companies. But since you have to cancel Disney's with in 24 hours of pick up I will be able to cancel them at a later date.
