I know this has ben mentioned before.... Can you rent a golf cart from another place beside FW, and have it delivered? If so who? what are your experiences with doing that? If you have a phone number that would be very helpful.

Thanks

I'm bumping, because I'd love to know this too!

You can definitely bring your own. But they will not allow a delivery inside the campground of another companies golf carts.
So you have two options rent from the bike barn or bring your own.

For a time there was a big business of commercial cart rental companies delivering rental carts to FW, but Disney tried to stop them. They were able to for a while, but there are two ways folks are "getting around" Disneys discouragment.

1. If you have a means to pick them up and transport them yourself, outside rentals are available. Some conpanies will even "rent" you a trailer, but they want it returned the same day, and vice versa on the day you return the cart. Too much trouble for me.

2. The second way is that the rental companies are jsut not advertising like they used to . The use unmarked trucks and don't make a scene when they arrive. They just park in the overflow lot, drive the cart to your site and leave, usually within 30 minutes. On the return day they just reverse the process.

One rental company mentioned often is Golf & Electric Vehicles Group (formerly known as CUSTOM CARRIAGES, INC.) According to their Regional Sales Manager (they have 5 locations around Florida) they have 2 passenger, 4 passenger and 6 passenger golf cars available for rental. Additionally, they offer gas and electric vehicles, although electric is preferable due to less noise and pollution. Rental rates are less than FW but you have to factor in a pickup and delivery charge of $50 roundtrip. They will deliver the vehicle to FW, coordinated in advance. Also, a rental agreement must be signed and faxed to them before delivery can be made. Payment by check or cash due upon delivery of vehicles.

On my last trip to Fort Wilderness I tried out their services. On the appointed day they road up to my site in the cart and the day were were leaving they picked it up at the site. The down side to their services is that they do not pick up or deliver on the weekends. But, if you are staying for a couple of weeks and want a cart you can save money this way. Contact Steve Senesi for more information.

While the daily fee is less, you need a rental of around 12 - 14 days to save money nce delivery is factored in. The big thing with them is that you can get 6 passenger golf cars.

Do you remember what the prices were? Do they have a website? I am really interested in the possibility of renting offsite. I thought that possibility was long gone. Thanks for any info.

Many moons ago I had a company bring them in to my site, but after 9/11 they stopped all outside vendors. There is still a way!!!!! you will have to meet them in the far parking lot unload it there and drive it in:thumbsup2

No, Off the top of my head I can't remember teh price, but the daily cost was slightly lower then Disney. Send Steve an e-mail and I'm sure he will get back to you.

Not correct, they will still bring them to the site. They just no longer drive the truck to the site, they just unload up front and ride the cart to you.
