It would be a bit of a hassle. The new rental policy is you pick up your cart after 1PM and must return it by 11am the next am (for a one day rental) so you lose a little time plus you will have to stand in line to get the cart twice. You will also lose time if you plan on going to the park 1st thing in the morning on your cart return day. It would be better to have your 2 off days together or better yet go ahead and spring for the extra day and just keep it for 3 days even if one of the days you plan on being in the park all day. It is so great to get off the packed bus or boat after park closing and only have a short walk to your cart and not have to wait to catch an internal bus to get back to camp. That one trip is almost worth the cost of rental. Plus it makes mid day breaks a lot faster. You can almost pay for the cart for the day by coming back to camp for lunch instead of buying lunch in the park. But I do recommend getting one for at least one day especially for a first time visitor. Having a cart will let you get a feel for the layout of the campground. Be sure you do reserve it before you arrive so you will not have to wait for the 1PM pick up time. (They do let people that reserve pick up early) We rarely get a cart because of the expense but it really makes a big difference in what we do at the campground. It is so much easier and faster to jump in the cart at the last minute and go to the fireworks, ELP, or campfire program. You can also go to the movie drive-in style if you park on the 1400 loop side of the movie area.
