Hi there. I noticed on Disney's site, they list the golf carts as "4-seat." Does that mean only four people are allowed on them? Would my three kids be able to sit in the back (they could squish together) while my husband and I are up front, or could one of my kids sit on an adult's lap?

I guess I'm asking both from a practical standpoint and whether there's a rule about it.

From what I have witnessed, you can pretty much do whatever you want. I have seen so many rental carts piled with people, it was ridiculous. I'm sure there are official rules, but never seen them enforced.

On one cart, I saw 5 or 6 little ones (all under 5 by look) on the rear seat, unsecured. Driver was going so fast that when he took a turn out of the Meadows Trading Post several of them almost fell off. They were all grabbing onto anything they could. :(

The carts are designed to fit 4 adults comfortably. I would put the smallest kid between the two adults in the front if the kid is too young to be trusted to stay seated. The seats are bench seats so 3 can squish in together.

Thanks for the info! My youngest will be 5.5, so probably old enough to be trusted, but up front between us might be a better plan.

It's all about butts in seats.

As long as everyone has a butt planted on a seat, the Fort will generally let you go. No child/adult sitting in someone's lap. No standing/crouching and just hanging on. Driver should not have a baby or anything else in their arms while driving.

So if your kids can squeeze across the back seat you'll be fine.

Not supposed to, but we seldom will stop carts - unless major overloaded.

to re-iterate what others have said. Butts in seat (or mostly in seats) are what is key. Above all, safety is the biggest consideration. I have seem carts where they were MASSIVELY overloaded and nothing was ever done. (I saw one that was a "4 Seater" that had at least 6 in it and they were not small.... AT ALL).

Obviously if you are pushing the limits of the cart (rented or not) you need to adjust the speed and overall driving accordingly.

This trip I have seen carts with 6 adults and 2 toddlers.
