We're planning on renting a GC for our stay at the Cabins in Jan 27 - Feb 5 2026. I've only done 'same day' 1 day rentals before.

I know you can reserve up to a year in advance, but is it really necessary to reserve this far in advance for the time of the year of our stay?

Do you pay a deposit or the whole thing upfront?

What is the cancellation policy?

With nDH's back injury we're still in limbo as to whether or not we'll be able to go. I booked the Cabin & paid the deposit and plan to pay it off as soon as we know what's what. It's nice that I can get a full refund if we cancel before 30 days. I really don't want to plunk down full payment for an 8 day GC rental until we know for sure but I also don't want to wait until we get the green light (probably no earlier than August/September) and then find out they're all reserved. Nor do I want to lose any money due to a more restrictive refund policy.

I know offsite rentals are cheaper but we'd rather rent with Disney for this trip if only for the convenience.

When you make the reservation, @StormyCA , they take your credit card and Fort reservation number (must be a FW guest).

With that info, they will charge your reservation approximately 24 hours before you arrive.

I believe you can cancel anytime up until that 24-hour window before arrival.

For a week's rental (approximately) IMO go ahead and make the reservation for DH (I'm on his side on this one). You can sort that all out later.

PS - I wish I could travel that late Jan-early Feb schedule like you and @team bradfield but no go so far with DW's obligations here at home.

Thanks @bama_ed . I'll give them a call.

As far as our travel dates, nDH and I were blessed to be able to retire in our mid-50s and what a revelation it was not to have to deal with annual leave and other people's vacations. 'Out of season' travel is really nice. I know now why my folks always traveled in March and October! And as I always say; "Retirement? I worked all my life for this!"

I was doubly blessed with a wonderful (also retired) brother who really 'pulled his weight' in caring for our late mother before her dementia got so bad she was no longer safe at home. Bro and I scheduled our trips around each other and were both able to be very flexible.

Your (and DW's) time will come.

I made my reservation over 6 months ago but the rate went up over that time. They honored the rate I had when I reserved it… bonus

Every year In the past they charged my card for the GC the day before arrival, for some reason this past February and April they charged me on departure, anyone else have this? I will reserve my Jan/Feb cart this week and inquire..

I hope this happens for me as well. I reserved our cart in September for our trip this September. It would be nice if I was charged the price I was quoted. That would be a nice bonus.

Made my ressie yesterday for our trip in Jan. Fingers crossed for no price hikes in the meantime!

I did get a confirmation with the price per day & the total so hopefully they'll honor that. There's no 'small print' on it about the price being subject to increases so fingers crossed.

The CM who booked me said we won't be charged until we checkout. But the 'Wise Ones of Ft W' (ie posters on this thread) said we'll be charged 1 to 2 days before we arrive.🤷🏼‍♀️ I'll just keep an eye on my CC to see what's what.
