Golf cart accident

I was sitting at the pool when the accident happened. The cart was heading toward the bridge and the girl was coming down off of the bridge. The girl on the bike was about 16 and did not speak english. She was on the wrong side of the road (according to the employee) and she ran into the golf cart. The driver of the cart was 18 and it was a rented cart. The girl hurt her ankle but decided not to be transported. That is all I know about it. I think the report from the employee was accurate, but remember, it may be wrong.

So the bike ran into the golf cart? Funny how stories can change, kind of makes the dangerous golf cart driver not so dangerous now.

Not saying it's still not a corner waiting for an accident, but now reading back over this thread it does make me laugh in parts ;)

When we were there in April we had a near miss. I was shaking when we got back to our camper -- we had our two young kids with us on our personal golf cart.

We were leaving the trading post heading towards the bridge going very slowly approaching the corner of the building when we were almost hit. It was two middle-age guys laughing and goofing off going incredibly fast from the bridge and around the turn -- I'm surprised they didn't flip it over. They came towards us head on but luckily I was able to avoid them. I said something to them and my dh got upset with me for saying something!

When I am approaching the bottom of the bridge and making that turn I stay to the far right and go very slowly. I have never understood why they don't make it safer!

I am really sorry I even started this thread, I only wanted to share some information about what happened, and as with any other accident, more information can come out later which may or may not change the point of view. I only related what I saw and what I was told at the time and while many of you seemed genuinely concerned with the wellfare of the girl (I was told at the time of the accident that it was a little girl, not that it should matter her what her age is) others of you seem to be very insensitive about the whole thing and have a "oh well accidents will happen" attitude. I truly believe that those of you whole fall into the latter group would feel much differently if it was your child that this had happened to, no matter who is at fault (and if anyone would care to reread my opening post, I did not pass any blame to anyone or say who had the right of way). I did not start this as a golf cart controversy thread but I do believe FW may need to explore other options for golf cart/bike/pedestrian traffic, the next time there is an "accident" the outcome may be worse. I will certainly not start any more threads on this board but will become more of a reader and will only answer the most mundane questions posted. I am so sad to see what this forum has become in the last few months, it does not have the same friendly feelings it used to have.

So feel free to flame away as this will be you last chance to burn me. :sad2:

I agree witcha proudmom. This used to be a fun forum that is turning into a mine's bigger than your's attitude. Let's see somebody's kid at Celebration Hospital who was run over by a golf cart no matter who is at fault and see what their opinion is then. I think golf carts, pedestrians and golf cart riders all need to be courteous to each other here at the fort. I saw a golf cart last night that obviously had a chip in it and it went by the 900 loop so fast it was like watching a race. You could hear this thing humming as it went by. There was no back seat and 2 people were standing on the back where the golf clubs go.

IMO it seems that more people drive crazy when it's a rented cart. Maybe because of the novelty of it? I dunno. I know with our personal cart that we would freak out if we scratched or dented it so we are careful.:)

As far as speeding -- we can't -- we can barely get up the hill with it floored!:rotfl2:

Not gonna let that happen

I did not start this as a golf cart controversy thread

Since it has evolved into this and some of the posts are in poor taste its now closed
