OK DS age 13 enjoys golf. I have visited various sites but still dont understand costing for golf at OKW, disney. As we are staying at OKW and a golf course surrounds it, how much does it cost to play on that course and does it include rental of golf clubs ?

Thanks:confused:

At 13, unless he's SERIOUSLY good, you'll find the courses expensive at a little too demanding. A much better option, IMHO, is the 9 hole walking course Oak Hill Trail. It's a bit shorter per hole and only a couple of carries over water. It's also a good deal cheaper than the championship courses. Yes you can hire clubs at all WDW courses, on the 18s you get a full set, on the 9 you can rent just a half set.
The championship courses vary depending on the season, but generally you're looking in the range of $100+ ( and that's playing twilight rate). I think Oak Hill trail is about $25-30 not sure on the cost of clubs but junior clubs will be cheaper than adult. You can find all the prices on Disney's own website.

Just a reminder that going out on the course is not permitted unless you have actually paid to play a round. ;)

If you go to www.disneyworld.com and do a search for "golf" you should get a lot of information. Also, the member site lays out the current discounts for DVC members. I'm not sure but I think the discount is geared for folks who will play multiple rounds since it involves buying a "badge".

The Oak hill trail is definitely the one for us - thanks;) !!!

He is not Seriously good !!! he has only taken up Golf this year!!!

I will check out the Disney site for Oak Hill Trail :smooth: :)

I found this info - We can get the price slice as we are there when that rate is available.

I know there are golf discounts at LBGC for DVC members, but it still wouldn't beat the Oak trail one. I think that would be the best bet for him anyway.

Did someone mention golf? That's DH's main reason to go to WDW! He and DS played at Oak Trail once. It was DS's first round ever, DH is a low single handicapper. Yet, they both loved it. The clubs you can rent are very nice quality. The only way to get a DVC discount at LBV is to buy an annual golf pass, $95. And with the price-slice special in the summer, you'd have to play quite a few rounds (about 5-7) with the golf pass to make it worthwhile to buy.

In September you run a strong risk that afternoon showers will happen and cut short any round. I would suggest that Oak Hill is still his best bet. He can play 9 holes and if he feels up for another 9 it's only an extra $10 :). If he's only been playing a year he's going to find the other courses just too difficult. Oak Hill is a nice little course and ideal for your situation IMHO. He can make use of the excellent practice facilities as it shares club house and proshop facilities with the Palm and Magnolia courses. A bucket of range balls and 10 minutes on the practice green is going to help his round no end :) . P.S. He can go up to the practice facilities and use the driving range without playing a round if he wants to try that for an hour or so.
