DH is trying to select his golf courses for our next trip. Any recommendations would help. He's already played Shipyard, Indigo Run, RTJ at Palmetto Dunes, Arthur Hill at Palmetto Dunes, and Harbourtown. His favorite, so far, was the Robert Trent Jones Course. He likes a course that's relatively challenging, but I don't think he's ever met a golf course he didn't like (I know never to ask him to choose between me and his beloved golf). Any recommendations? There are so many courses! He's wondering especially about the others at Sea Pines. Or any others?

I have played Oyster Reef and the Golden Bear Course at Indigo Run. Both were decent courses and both places treated me well. Golden Bear was probably the better of the two in terms of quality golf, but the pace of play was so slow that it really detracted from what was otherwise a very nice experience.

You can't call what I do playing Golf...more like playing at it. Anyway, my Dad, who was a very good golfer (Local City Champion and everything) like Palmetto Dunes (not to far from DVC HH either) There are several courses off island on 278 that might also interest. If I remember he played the Arthur Hill course and liked it also. He played the big SeaPines course once or twice, but, wasn't that thrilled by it (Could have been the cost, he was.....careful with his money).

There are so many on Hilton Head, I would recommend just seeing which is the one that fits in your price range and go from there. There are nice courses here in Savannah that aren't too far away, one just before you go over the Talmage bridge coming into town.

Okay, Dh's golf report from our trip Sept. 17 - 23.

Monday, he played Sea Pines - Ocean course. His remark was "There were lots of really nice homes on the course." He also said he had fun.

Wednesday, he played Oyster Reef. I don't remember his report, but I'm sure he enjoyed it. Like your DH, there are very few courses he doesn't like.

Friday, he was suppose to play Robber's Run/Way something like that at Port Royal, but they moved him to Barony at Port Royal. I rode along. It was a nice course, lots of trees.

I'll try to get him to reply to this thread so you can actually have some first hand info to pass along to your hubby.

I read somewhere that there are forty courses at HH. Guess that will keep us going back for years!!

My dh always hits the Ocean Course at Sea Pines, brings friends there, really likes it. Sea Marsh is nice too (the clubhouse is the same for both), but is a bit easier course I believe (not easy, just easier). However, one of them is down right now for renovations---pretty sure it's Sea Marsh.

My DH has played at Old South and liked it. He also loves Arthur Hills at Palmetto Dunes.

Simba, this is lsutigger2's Dh. I played the 3 courses that she mentioned and all were in great shape. Check with the desk and they can schedule your golf for you at a reduced price. The savings was over $20 per round. Call the HHI front desk and have them fax you or e-mail their golf course list to you. Call back with your choices and have them make your reservations. Hope you have fun.

Thanks for the info. We didn't know exactly what to do now-do we call the course or the resort? Now I know-call the resort!
