Golden Oak

That's my dream for when I win the lottery one day. I need to start playing I guess.

How cute that your Granddog was in the pictures! Do your children live there?

I saw a similar article out on another website about a month ago and I chastised the author of the article for saying it's a new living location (it's not). Interesting that Today would do the same thing.

BTW, cute cute cute dog!

Does the article actually say it's a new location though? They mention the new neighborhood being developed, but I'm not seeing anywhere that they are claiming the whole location is new

This article doesn't forthright say it (based on them inserting the Four Seasons part, it almost seems like that is their intention), but, the other article -- I cannot believe I can't remember the name of the site, starts with an R, I believe, oh well -- definitely did.

And for some that will be enough in itself no doubt. But an Annual Pass isn't that expensive, I could survive living a bit further away for a quarter as much. :D

By the time you are considering moving here, this isn't a primary residence. If you're going to spend 2+ million on a 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) home, why not have it be at Disney?

True that lol. Most people can't afford the 2 million to live there. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:Still it would be cool to live there.

I suppose it's all about location. One things for sure, if I were wealthy enough to buy at Golden Oaks, I'd have plenty of company. My entire family would be visiting!
Adorable doggy!!!

Well quite frankly I would never spend $2million on even a permanent residence. It's just not in my nature to "waste" money in that fashion. I've been talking about buying a new tv for the last year. I could easily afford it, but the current one still works so...

I know that a lot of people say that about Golden Oak and that most of the homeowners use the houses as vacation homes. I really don't understand that. I LOVE the idea of living at WDW. If I could afford it, I would so live year round at Golden Oak. Homeschool the kids. Part time work as a park tour guide- just to keep me busy. What a fun life that would be.

We toured golden oak last year. We weren't really interested but curious. I assumed they would have a variety of price ranges available. But the minimum was about 2 million and up from there. The homes were lovely. A lot of Spanish interior and exterior influence. A little too much ironwork in a couple homes. And no big pool, just lap pools. Very small yards. The cost of the house was one thing but the maintenance and club house fees were crazy. I figured if you wanted to belong to the club house with the big pool, play golf, include all the usual landscaping, etc the annual maintenance fees were from 60,000 to 100,000. You also get access to the four seasons for tennis and using their pool. We were told that about half of the owners live there full time. Overall it was the kind of place that looks good on the outside but is very pretentious and over the top. If we had that kind of money, I would much prefer a second home on the gulf or ocean.

"Other amenities in Golden Oak include golf services, Disney Parks tickets, Extra Magic Hours benefit, and access to Summerhouse, a private 17,000 square-foot clubhouse that features a dining room, bar, gaming area, and pool. Oh, and residents can also expect to be invited to plenty of parties and family events year-round."

But you get Extra Magic Hours too ................... for now. :D

Elle (the dog) belongs to a young couple who have become very good friends. They don't live at Golden Oak though.

BTW, cute cute cute dog!
Yes she is! We had her as a house guest for the past 5 days while her parents were out of town.

I want to be that dog!
She gets treated very well even if she doesn't actually live at Golden Oak.

It's a nice house. Is it $2 million worth of nice? Not sure about that.
Very hard to judge from a picture of one room. Take a look at the Golden Oak web site for a better idea of the size of these homes. And that $2 million number is basically a starter.

How about a vacation home in some tropical paradise? Or perhaps in one of the grand cities of Europe?
