Golden Globes Made Me Realize

I usually ignore it but when someone's eyes are two inches further apart because of surgery. I cringe. I

My wife never wore any makeup and my two middle aged daughters don't either although I think they both did when they got married, but if they have since then, I haven't seen it. One does dye her hair and the other is letting the gray show which ages me more that it does her. I think I aways liked the natural look and I still do. One may look young but let's just realize that we are only masking reality not altering it. If they want to be younger then spend the money to get one's birth certificate altered to change the date to a couple of decades later. I'm just happy to know that it is now impossible for me to die young. That's quite the accomplishment.

Mostly made me realize why I don't really care for award shows. Too many inside jokes and if you aren't up on those things, most of the time it is hard to tell what they are talking about or the audience laughing at something I am not familiar with. Those winning an award try to be funny when they really aren't or seem to drone on thanking people until the music cuts them off. There are so many different pay/streaming channels now, also seems like most people have probably never seen many of the movies being nominated.

I do not watch awards shows either. I mean who cares to see a bunch of people sitting around giving awards to others in the same industry? I mean I guess if you are in the industry its cool. Would be like the plumbers union televising an awards show for the best plumbers in the industry.

I feel the same way. Nothing wrong in having such a show, but have zero interest in watching. Those type of awards are all very subjective regardless of whether it is about movies, music or TV shows.

There is (or was?) a local magazine here supposedly dedicated to empowering and celebrating women. There were more ads for plastic surgery than articles . What is wrong with growing older? It beats the alternative.

The swag bags really irk me. The latest was worth one million dollars and included a trip on a luxury yacht and a weekend at a luxury hotel, jewelry and a face lift. I can't even believe this is real. Giving these gifts to people who make millions.
