I know there is a lot of interest in Sequoia Lodge Golden Forest so I thought I'd share a few thoughts on my recent stay.
DH and I booked a honeymoon suite via the french site Voyage Privee at a very good rate after reading here of a special offer.
Check in was good, lovely CMs no waiting around and a quick tour of the Golden Foirest facilities before we were taken to our room.
The suite is lovely and everything looked clean. I would have liked a better view but to be honest I wasn't there to look out of the window !
Breakfast in the GF lounge was good. It was busy but nothing compared to the scrums at other hotels onsite. the CMs were great, smiley and chatty. The breakfast was exactly of the same standard as the usual SL selection.
Afternoon tea was lovely. A choice of 6 cakes and some sweets which you help yourself to and drinks served by CMs. We were allowed as many drinks as we wanted and were encouraged to take a bottle of water with us when we left. There are newspapers to browse through a tv showing sport and CMs to chat with if you want to. The lounge is dark but very pretty and in keeping with the theme of the hotel.
I'm not sure how much extra the GF standard is worth, it depends on how much use an individual might make of the extras. We really enjoyed it and fitted use of the extras into our plans. As parks were hot and busy and open late, it was easy to find an hour to walk back in the afternoon and have tea. I do think cramming it in on shorter days might not seem worthwhile.
For anyone who likes to chat with CMs, enjoys a break from the parks and may enjoy characters at breakfast it could well be worth the extra cost. It felt like an extra treat.

thank you for sharing! Which characters did you see at Breakfast?

Ooh it sounds fab. Did you by any chance take any pics?

Thank you so much for sharing - we are all eager for any reviews and info here! (Especially the afternoon tea, or is that just me?!)

We got to look in the lounge a few weeks back and it looks lovely. We're also booking a honeymoon suite for well, clue is in the name, as it's my favourite hotel. We can't use the shareholders room as somehow my card still isn't here so have to get on their back grrrrr so the perks are something what we are used to - just this will be afternoon (too).

Can you not get them to email you a temporary certificate that you can print out? This is what I used on my last trip.

This is what I'm doing - though I should have had my new card last october!

thank you for sharing :)

can I ask what type of cakes were available at the afternoon tea?

I'm on my phone and can't make multiple quotes work - but
Characters at breakfast were Goofy Eyeore and Tigger. We left quite early on our second morning before 2nd character arrived.
Cakes at tea were mini ring doughnuts, small chocolate brownies, choc chip muffins, madelaines, plain mini Madeira and coconut cakes. All of them very nice!
I didn't take ics of the lounge sorry. My DH left the camera in our room and it was a bit dark in there. The pics on Facebook are really good, take a look at those. : )
