Does the Gold/Platinum reception take place on every cruise regardless of length?

It's not on 3 night cruises. As it's generally done on the first sea day, and 3 night cruises generally don't have a sea day.

It's been on all our cruises: 4, 5, 7, 10, 14, & 15 night cruises.

I always enjoy the reception! I will also add, on our 7 night sailings the reception seemed much longer and even included Q&A. On my last 4 night sailing it felt quite rushed but was still not to be missed. It likely varies depending upon how busy the crew are at the time.

The one I was most disappointed in was on our 5 night cruise. The officers sort of just roamed around the tables/groups and there was no presentation (yes that little DCL "commercial" video with Karl), and no Q & A. Well, except if you managed to corral the officer you wanted to ask something of.

We enjoyed our last reception, on a 5 night Merrytime Magic cruise the most. We spent a lot of time talking to an HR officer. She enjoyed it too, as she sent us a bottle of wine to our room!

We are on our first gold cruise in February. It's a 4 day with no sea days. When do you think the reception would be??

we are actually on a 3 day this year coming up that has a sea day instead of Nassau.

We enjoyed ours and were pleased to meet the Merchandise officer who was talking up the Star Wars cruises and product. Alot.
It was kind of sweet though and he was a very nice man. We ran into him several times after that initial meetup and he remembered my husband and son by name. Which is always kind of nice and just adds to the magic and fun.
The cocktails and snacks are really nice and we (okay I) LOVED the rice krispie Mickey treats!

We have never done it before, but maybe we should carve out time for it? how long does it last?

I'll be gold before my husband. Does that mean I would go solo if I chose to go to the reception?

They didn't have any rice krispie treats at our reception, and the other "treats" were just meh. DH and I both felt it was a waste of time. RCCL does a much better job with their receptions. Hot and cold appetizers, super desserts, live entertainment, and a lot more officers. We were almost too full to go to dinner. (I said almost.)

Ha Ha..............never too full on a Disney Cruise.

On my three night cruises that included a sea day, we still didn't have a CC reception. I'm pretty sure they don't offer them unless 4 nights or longer. Others can chime in but that's been my experience as a Platinum cruiser. Also the times they pick are pretty wacky. On one sailing it was at 5:30pm and our dinner was 5:45pm. Since it's typically the first sea day we are almost always at Palo Brunch so we've missed out there too. So for us, it's clearly been an exception to be able to even make it :) I/we enjoy going however we've learned it's not the end of the world if the plans don't work out.

That is a bummer. At the one we went to in September, there was a variety of seafood, fruit, cheese and desserts as well as some cocktails and non alcoholic beverages as well. The Rice krispie treats were handed out to everyone as we were leaving. Both the plain and the chocolate tipped kind. I will admit to taking control of my husbands because he doesn't like them. He was about to say no when I intervened :) lol
There were appearances by Mickey and Minnie and time for photos and of course the video with Karl showing the plans for the then unfinished Dream renovations. We were quite pleased with it and plan to attend the next one on our January cruise. Will let you know if this upcoming one is any different if you would like. :)
