Gold Pass upgrade to Platinum

I just read through a bunch of posts but couldn't find anything recent on this. We are leaving soon for WDW and are considering upgrading our passes for the Platinum promotion. Our current APs expire in April (got the extra one month). Other than the no black out dates, what is the advantage of upgrading?
We won't use them during a normally blocked time, so I'm not sure it's worth standing in line at GS and paying around $10 each. Am I missing something?

If your passes expire in April, I don't think you'd pay anything to upgrade. The last price increase was in early February. Our passes are from late Feb, and we had no cost to upgrade when we went in October. We did the upgrade to make it easier to renew our passes at the Platinum Plus level before 1/3/18, in the hopes that we'll get some use out of the water park part of the pass in the next year.

I believe the platinum plus also covers the greens fees at some of the Disney golf courses.

We'll be upgrading our Gold AP vouchers when we arrive next week. The kids have never been to the water parks so we look forward to using them for that. Also my DS started golfing a couple years ago and the Oak Trail Golf Course in included with the Platinum Plus Pass.

Since we have vouchers that aren't activated yet, should I be concerned about our Fast Pass reservations getting messed up when we upgrade the passes?

No. As long as you have valid admission, your fastpasses are safe.

I knew I was missing something. I didn't realize the Platinum included water parks. Definitely worth the upgrade!

The current deal is for the Platinum Plus pass, which includes water parks. the "Platinum" pass does not include water parks.

We upgraded from Gold to Platinum Plus when we renewed since it was such a good deal. We had fastpass reservations with our old passes and were concerned that we might lose them with the change. Not to worry. The fastpasses are not affected.

We did the upgrade at no extra cost. They gave us back our same Gold Pass cards but our MDE account shows Platinum Plus. It was a simple transaction. FPs and extra month extension are all still active.
