If I renew an annual pass on line or by phone, do I still need to stop by Guest Services or can the new card be mailed? I will probably renew after my next trip, I'm wondering if I need to wait until the following trip to receive the card. Do I handle through Member Services?

Unless Disney has changed something recently, renewals done by phone must be activated in person.

DVC passes are not supposed to be renewable online, only in person at WDW or by calling MS.

FL Resident and Tourist (non-discounted) APs can be renewed online and those online renewals don't require activation.

Correct - this happened to me and it's confusing because it shows the DVC renewal price, and has a link to renew online, but then you only get options to buy new. Spent a lot of time thinking it was a site problem before getting on the phone.

Are you able to renew a DVC AP using monthly payment option? I had 2 people ask me this at work and I honestly don’t know the answer 🤪

DVC does not offer monthly payments for annual passes. That is only offered to Florida residents. But I sure wish they would!!!

Sheesh... can’t you just budget that much every month and sock it away for the passes?

Never understood that.

After renewing by phone, you still have to go to GR or a ticket booth in person to activate your AP before entering a park. They have to check your photo ID and your DVC blue card. You should also receive the plastic gold AP card, which you’re supposed to show for AP discounts, parking, etc. (although the CMs don’t always ask to see it - I just routinely have it ready). That card is also your actual AP ticket, in case you don’t have a MB when entering a park or using a FP.

This would be a nice perk for them to offer. I wonder why they don't? I can see from a perspective of people using if for a trip and then trying to cancel after, or canceling a CC it's attached to...

I agree! That would make APs more budget-friendly for many people, which translates into selling more passes and bringing more DVC members back to the parks more often, where they would spend more money. Seems like a win-win to me. Maybe it's all part of the effort to manage attendance.

Thank you! I was thinking they may not need to check the photo ID and DVC card for a renewal, since presumably that was checked when buying the original AP. I do understand the necessity of having the actual ticket. Was simply wondering if it could be mailed to avoid wasting time at Guest Services. Every time I go it seems to take forever!

I think they check every time to make sure it’s you, to prevent someone from entering a park and setting the fingerprint for that AP who isn’t you. And I know what you mean about taking time. Have you tried the Epcot IG yet? And you can go to a ticket booth; it doesn’t have to be GR.

They check to make sure you're still eligible for member extras (blue card perks). Otherwise you could sell your DVC contracts and continue to renew the gold AP indefinitely. The only silly thing is that you can't renew online. That's something that could be easily handled with a little more web site development, but it's obviously not a priority.

I understand. You can obtain and activate an AP at Epcot IG? I didn’t realize that - though I guess only helpful if we’re staying an Epcot area resort. Thanks for the info!

Well, now that the Skyliner makes it so easy to get to IG from AOA, Pop and CBR, the ticket booth and GR there are more accessible than ever.

OTOH we activated our renewals today at the Ticket Center at DS, just across the walkway from GR in Town Center. Very quick and easy (about 5:00PM). We were the only guests there, but the CM said it had been busy earlier.
