I checked in at OKW today and I just picked up my ECV a few hours ago from Gold Mobility, who's rented me a scooter for about 8 years now (I remember the first time, I'd just gotten it and talked with another DISer who had a GM scooter as we were waiting for one of the cooking demos at Food and Wine (remember those? I don't think there's anyone who doesn't miss them!) Anyways, mine no longer came with the previously complimentary ponchos! Fortunately I'd brought one from a previous trip, but I miss the nice little touch of one or two being supplied by Gold Mobility.

They still list them online and say you can keep it. We had one that came without a poncho a couple trips back- but didn’t notice until after the drop off and didn’t feel it was worth contacting them. Learned then to always check for the cover before they leave!

If you’re fine with the hassle of meeting them I would contact them and request it.

I think it was my mom and I who chatted with you about 8 years ago about our first experiences renting from Gold! That was definitely the location!

When I rented mine in March, I did not get Ponchos either, and I asked about it during delivery and he said that sometimes they just forget to pack them. Wasn't a big deal to me, so I didn't press the issue.

We just got back from our trip and rented 2 scooters from Gold. They provided a very cheap shower cap (my mom's tore when she put it on the tiller) and the thinnest poncho I've ever seen. Trash bags are thicker than that which was provided 😂 But I guess anything is better than nothing if you're caught in a downpour. I made sure I brought a shower curtain (courtesy of the dollar store), 2 disney ponchos from last year, and heavy duty beach towel clips. For the day where it sprinkled on/off I did use the very thin poncho to just cover the tiller as it was easy to just clip the shorter plastic on than covering and clipping with the shower curtain (which came in clutch during heavy downpours/wind as it cover the basket, tiller, and my feet). But long story short, the provided shower cap/poncho were in the back pocket, way way at the bottom.

Just got back from my trip. Check the back pocket… that’s where mine were.

I actually prefer my own which are much better quality but it’s nice to have an extra in an emergency.
Thank you! And my faith in Gold Mobility is restored. That's exactly where it was-Gold Mobility has NOT discontinued them.

So glad you remember that-and told me. I've wondered several times about "those people I talked with at the F&W Festival" since it was pretty much the first time renting from GM for both of us back then. Hope things are going well-this is only the second or third F&W for us since we talked back in the good ole days of culinary demos. Now I'm more a FarTS person now (going in late January/early February). Do you go regularly to the F&W? It may seem too warm for some, but to me, the weather's only a little warm.

I should have been there the last 10 days or so, but I had to cancel. My mom is unfortunately not doing well and had to be moved to a board and care residence for care I cannot provide. And there was no way I could be across the country from her for that long. We do typically go for about 10-12 days in September though so hopefully next year I will be able to do so. We are not big food and wine people and do a lot more sit down dining. I also usually go in March for some Flower and Garden fun too.
