Hi all! We have an upcoming trip to WDW and I do not want to suffer from blisters like I have in the past. I need to take preventative measures to keep my feet happy! In your experience, what do find more helpful, powder or lubricant?

Thanks,
Paula

First, good shoes with socks is your best option. Second, I swear by body glide. I run marathons and that stuff really works!

Lubricant, no question. use body glide liberally, but most importantly, do not wear cotton socks. Cotton witholds moisture. Get something with no more than 2% cotton that wicks moisture away and helps keep your feet dry.

Powder mixed with foot sweat while wearing cotton socks will form a nice little paste in your socks.

I am very blister prone. I used to get blisters every trip to WDW or DL. I started using Body Glide, and although we have had several trips since then, I have not had one blister. I used to blister every time I got a new pair of shoes until they were broken in, and Body Glide works great for that too. I swear by it.

But, if you are going to buy and wear socks that wick the moisture away DO NOT use fabric softner on them as it will cause them to not wick moisture away well any more. Same goes with any other atheletic clothes designed to keep you dryer.

I'm not from the US and I'd like to try body glide. Can you find it in Target, Wallmart or Publix?

Body Glide is best but for some reason is not available everywhere you go.You can find it at runner's stores,Sports Authorities and Dick's sporting goods may have it but there's been times I've gone looking there and couldn't find it.Gold Bond also just came out with a similar product to Body Glide called Gold Bond Friction Defense,I think it's a good substitute for Body Glide and is essentially the same thing, but I still put Body Glide as my favorite. The Gold Bond friction defense is available at Walgreen's which are on every corner.

I've heard great things about Anti-Monkey Butt.
Say Good-bye to Chafed Thighs! Lady Anti Monkey Butt Powder is specially formulated with patented satiny smooth powder to minimize the frictional discomfort that women often experience when using exercise equipment, running, driving, cycling or just walking. Its unique ingredients work quickly to absorb sweat and provide cooling effective relief of irritation on the inner thighs and other areas of the skin prone to rubbing.

Ideal for butt busting activities such as truck driving, motorcycling, bicycling, horse back riding, and extreme sports. May also be applied inside footwear, under sports pads, and other areas prone to chafing. Indoors or outdoors, work or play, or on occasions when you sit on your butt all day, dont let your buns get red, use Anti Monkey Butt Powder instead!

Personally, I like to go with flip flops whenever I go to Disney World (unless it is one of our two weeks of winter). It removes the threat of blisters entirely!

...unless you are my son-in-law who wore flip flops for the first time ever at Disney World. He got blisters between his toes. We found the first aid station and got him some band aids. He says he won't be wearing flip flops ever again!

Coming from someone who constantly goes barefoot and wears flats/flip flops, even broken in flip flops will give you blisters or at least really hurt your feet after walking around in them all day.

I've tried wearing flip flops at WDW and felt like I was hit by a truck. No blisters, but with no arch support my body hurt all over. Now flip flops are for the resort only, I wear sneakers with support to the parks.:earsboy:

Yes that's a pretty bad side effect too!:worried:

Body Glide or Blister Block...have found Body Glide at the large sporting goods stores, and have found Blister Block at Walmart & Walgreens, in the first aid/bandaid department (it's made by Bandaid company) While you're in the bandaid dept, get a package of the blister bandaids...these work unbelievably well when you already have a blister. Every time we've taken people for the first trip, we've tried to get them to use Body Glide or Blister Block in advance...and heard, Oh I won't have problems, I"m used to walking in these shoes/sandals/flip flops. And they get a blister & the beginnings of more. So we hand out the blister bandaids for the existing blisters, and they slather the Blister Block on everywhere that's a "hot spot" for more blisters.

Way back in the day we tried powder...did nothing...we tried anti-perspirant...did nothing.

on the topic of bandaids, I love the new Bandaid brand sport strip ones. They're a little padded and stay on for ages! I hit my heel on a dolly and put one on and it stayed on through 3 showers and then finally it was time to remove it. Probably would have stayed on longer too!
