Friends of ours are going to spend a day or two with us on our next trip to Disneyworld. My one friend has been as a child but his wife had never seen a disney movie and doenst know any of the characters names. We have been giving them a movie a week to help them on thier way. She really wants to come because she see's how much we love it.

So my question to all of you is. If you were bringing someone to show them "the world" what parks would you take them too and what attactions are a must see. Also what food is a must eat for them while they are there.

Thanks guys for your help

That's a tough one. I'd probably do MK and MGM (my favorite). I'd try to make it a day at the MK that would be the least crowded and take them on some of the rides that are unique to Disney (like Peter Pan's Flight, Pirates of the Carribean, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, etc)...

MGM would be fun since they could see most of the park in one day. I'd probably do at least one of the "shows" and also Tower of Terror and Rock and Roller Coaster. I might even try to do the World Showcase at Epcot that evening.

As for food - if we were pressed for time I'd try to eat in the park we were in. If we were ok for time I might try to take them on the monorail and go to either Ohana or Whispering Canyon Cafe - probably Ohana, then maybe catch Wishes from the beach or something like that. At the World Showcase I might try and just do some "sampling" at the countries instead of a sit down meal and later, after Illuminations, I might take them out through the International Gateway and walk them around the Epcot Resorts area.

Lots to do in one or two days!! :wizard:

I would go to all the parks and go see phillharmagic it was so kewl! and Planet hollywood in downtown was cool to me Fantasmic was really good do the dinner package it was worth it we walked right in and got a front row but u would do better going up some so you could see the film they play on the shooting water better but they will love it and it will be awesome to see their faces seeing all this stuff for the first time

Over the years I've gone with friends who do not go as often as I do. I buy them a copy of Birnbaum's. First I go through it and highlight my favorites. Then I have them mark rides/attractions that sound interesting.

I would do this. Go to the Magic Kingdom because, well, the castle is probably THE thing to see for a first timer. Take the newbie around the lands and hit all of the big rides first. Get to MK as early as possible and start at Tomorrowland, go to fantasyland and then hit Frontierland. Adventureland would be last. This is because what people generally do is go straight for Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain going to Space Mountain after. If you do the oppisite, you will get it good. Then go to Pirates of the Caribbean last. If you want to hit the less popular rides then do them once you have gone once around to the bigger rides.

Then go to MGM (My fav.) Get a fastpass for Rock 'n' Roller coaster and go over to Tower of Terror. Then go on it again if possible. Then go to RNR with your fastpass. Hit it twice if possible. After go to Muppet Vision 3D. Eat lunch at 50's Prime Time the newbie will get a kick out it. You can do the other rides you want whenever you want.

After that, go to EPCOT. Do The major rides first such as Test Track and Soarin'. Then go to Journey into your imagination. Then go over to Honey, I shrunk the audience. If you want do the World Showcase and whatever else you want.

Keep in mind that it is almost impossible to do all of this in one day. What I have written is over a course of 2-3 days. I, myself could probable do it but for a new commer, make sure he/she does not have to feel rushed or in a race. The first impression is everything!

We have been several times and know we cant do it all in two days. Heck in two weeks we still didnt see it all. :earsboy: We know its going to be a rush. We gave them a copy of the DVD to watch and they said they liked the Wilderness Lodge and can they do that. It looked like fun. Soo yah.. We were thinking MK and perhaps Cindy's for dinner and start them off slow. Perhaps we will get them hooked and they will want to come when we go next time. :earboy2:

Great suggestions please keep them coming

Since she's just now seeing the movies, and if she has a movie or two that stands out as a favorite for her, maybe you could try to incorporate those characters or attractions into your plans?

Wow, I just can't imagine anyone growing up not seeing Disney movies! What a deprived childhood. ;)

that's a hard one...I like the book suggestion, then you can find out what would suit them best....

I find it hard to "tour" with others...

First park would be Magic Kingdom, would get there at park opening and head straight to Tomorrowland and go on Space Mt and then Buzz and Stitch then head into Toon Town and jump on the train to Frontierland and once in Frontierland head straight to the mountains, splash and thunder, ride one and fast pass the other, depending on FP time you may be able to get a few other things done, we actually ate at Pecos Bills, seen Tiki Bird show, rode POTC and Jungle Cruise and then did Splash. Then come back through Fantasyland and do PP, WP, Phillarmagic and ISAW make sure they see Spectromagic if it is happening that night and watch Wishes, it will be magical for them. Then if they have a second day get to EP when it opens and head straight to Test Track and then Mission Space, if they are into gardening or anything take them to the Land pavillion, then head to WS and do the ride in Mexico and Norway and maybe another country and have lunch at one of the countries then take a bus to MGM head straight to TT and RRR and ride one and FP the other, do TGMR, see backlot tour or LMCA, and maybe play Who wants to be a millionare, and see muppets, then be sure to take them to see Fantasmic, a perfect way to end the day.. Hope this helps, can you tell I am a fanatic?

I agree 100% that MK MUST be the first park to take them too - what better way to experience the magic of it all! Perhaps have lunch in the park and then head to a monorail resort for dinner and maybe even back to MK for fireworks, etc...

If you have them for a 2nd day I would suggest Epcot. The World Showcase is always fun - the food is great there and they could experience anything they want to eat! It's fun to tour each country and Future World has some fun rides to take in too with Test Track, Mission Space and Soarin. Plus the globe is fun to ride up in. If anyone is into the technology stuff there's certainly plenty of it here.

We took some first timers with us last year and the adults loved the happy feeling of MK but their favorite park overall was Epcot. The kids on the other hand loved MK the best with MGM as a close 2nd.

:)

Oh, and one more thing - I don't suggest rushing them through MK to get on the rides because they'll miss so much of the ambience and won't enjoy it as much. We found that having one person run ahead to get fast passes for the big rides while the rest of us strolled around sightseeing worked well for us. That way our 1st timers enjoyed themselves and we still got to ride all the must-dos!

Ok so consensus says MK. Now where to eat. Character meal? Im afraid that someone might call Chip and Dale squirrells. :rotfl:

Keeps the suggestions coming :wave2:
