Hi Everyone,

I would love to go back to WDW.... but my hubby has no desire to. I thought it would be a wonderful idea to take each of my kids... on thier own, when they ended fourth grade.
I have an opportunity to get some cheap flights for long weekend in June.. and take my 10 yr old.
Have any of you brought one child, but not the other? What is it like with just one kid and one adult? I am wondering if he will have fun with just me. I would love the one on one attention we can give each other, but I don't want to take anything away from him.
I just had a new baby... so a lot of my attention has been towards her, but I want to spend some quality time with my oldest before he doesnt want to spend time with his mom.
Advice and Experiences?
Thanks! :sunny:

I haven't done WDW with just one but as long as you planned on doing it with each one at the same age more or less, I think it would be a great idea!

I have done this on a smaller scale. I took my DD into Chicago for her 10th birthday for a day to her self (we went to the American Girl Place). It was *SO* much fun to spend 1 on 1 time with her and being 10 was old enough to listen, etc...

At the time I hadn't really thought much of it for the other kids as this was her Golden birthday so I was thinking along those lines but my boys will be older for theirs (since we live close enough to the city that it's not a major planning - well, I have 4 kids, so arranging someone to watch the other 3 does get to be difficult while DH was at work) but after seeing how much fun we had, etc... I now plan on making that a big deal for each child's 10th birthday - they get to come spend an entire day with me in the city and we will do what they want to do (unfortunately, I haven't figured out a place for boys like the AG place for girls is but I still have 2 more years! :) ).

I've been to WDW twice in recent years and am planning a third trip soon. All three of these trips have been just me and my daughter (age 7 now) and it was great. We have a fabulous time - no arguments over who gets to choose the next ride or who has the larger ice cream or who got more time with a character. :-) I can gear our day to her - no dragging two or three kids back to the hotel before they're ready because one kid is too hot or has a blister and no trying to cater to different ages while keeping everyone happy. Traveling with all your kids is wonderful, but there are some little luxuries that come from having just you-and-me time. Both ways of seeing WDW are cool, but I bet that if you do this for each kid, they'll still be talking about it when they're 30. Who knows, you may start a family tradition. :earsboy:
