Going "watch-less"?

I haven't worn a watch in 16 years. Get a cheap one at Walgreens if you need one. Then you can stick it in your vacation bag for later after vaca.

I wear a watch all the time and WDW is no different. Besides for FPs & any ADRs, I use my watch to check time for when restaurants are opening for lunch or on attractions with different times than the park. I wouldn't want to be getting my phone out all the time just to check time. I actually print out all our FPs from an excel spreadsheet I make so unless I'm changing FPs or texting my mom/sister about the trip the cellphone is put away. I'm accident prone too it seems and having my watch attached to me is better than always getting my phone out and dropping it or having it fall out of a pocket.

I am super time conscious so I could never go anywhere without a watch or an easy way to look at the time when I need to. But, if that's something you feel you're up for, go for it.

I'm anal about time but never wear a watch. We always check and carry our phones. Never had a real issue but we leave our phones handy - in a pocket, usually - considering we mostly go bagless.

I have a Garmin Vivofit (activity tracker) and it has the time on it so I just use that or my phone. No watch.

I don't "wear" a watch but, because I don't want to keep getting my phone out to check the time, I put the watch around my cinch sack bag or a belt loop. That way it's accessible without having to wear it, the MB...

I've considered fastening the watch around my bag strap (I carry a crossbody). I'll probably do as I've done before and just do MB & watch together on the left, but that's another option.

I too hate wearing a watch. When it's warm, a watch feels sweaty and uncomfortable. I gave up wearing one once I stopped working as an ED nurse. I bug my husband for the time when in the parks. In the interest of matrimonial harmony, I ordered a 'lapel' watch from Amazon. This one has a carabiner to hook onto a bag or belt. Amazon also has lapel watches that pin on too but the pin back looked flimsy. So, for those who feel about watches as I do, this may work.

I'm the rare bird that doesn't have a smart phone or a cellular phone for that matter. I also don't wear a watch. But when I am at WDW I always wear a watch and look at it quite frequently. I have to know what time it is for FPs, dining and shows.

You could go without a watch if you have no scheduled FP+ and no ADR's. If you have either, then a watch is a must.

I disagree with this statement. I haven't worn a watch for years since I used to get time obsessed, especially at Disney World. My husband and son complained about me constantly checking for things and the best times to see them, etc. So, I tossed the watch and just use the phone. Even at Disney World with FastPasses and dining times. I don't find myself constantly dragging out the phone to check the time because, well, you can't stop time so you go with it. If my FastPass time is at 2:00 and it's now 1:00, well, I have from 2:00-3:00 to use that FastPass and now I need something to do for an hour until I can start using the FastPass. So, I have two full hours to do things and there are plenty of things to do at Disney World. I've found that slowing down a bit and seeing the little things adds so much to the vacation. Without the watch, I'm not thinking about where to be when, I'm actually enjoying myself. And yes, I still make my FastPass times and my dining reservations (if I have any). But I relax a lot more.

Going way back to the original post, I wouldn't say there's a lot of clocks around the parks, however, most of the FastPass+ return signs have the current time posted.

Agree with this. I wouldn't want to tour Disney World without a personal timepiece with me as it seems a bit like Las Vegas - how can you enjoy yourself with all these clocks around? But, that personal timepiece is something everyone individually needs to figure out themselves.

Well no watch might work for you but I am an old fart (with a child's heart) and one of several things will happen if I do not have my watch........ I forget how much time has passed so I either over or under estimate that 2 hour time frame and end up worrying if I messed up........or I try to use my "smart" phone only to usually have to put on my magnifying glasses to see the screen on it to see the time......or I have already done this so many times that my phone is dead or nearly dead.........or if I find a clock in the park I have to go to it to see the time clearly.....bad eyes you see...... my personal watch has a huge face on it so I can see it without glasses. I also have the FP+ times, ADR times, and anything else important written in large print on my hand........again I told you I am old, not fully sighted, and forgetful! So for me, it is more relaxing to be able to check the time any time my trying to relax self wants. LOL!

I am a retired old fart who hasn't worn a watch since high school, way back when before pocket calculators, let alone an iPhone!

LOL! I only wear one when in Disney ......... as it seems to be one of the few time sensitive places I frequent.

I tried going watch less once and it drove me crazy. I have worn my watch ever since.

That ^ is a great idea! I have a cheap Mickey Mouse watch that isn't getting much use (it probably needs a battery)...I'll turn it into a MagicBand watch!

I always wear a watch (except in the shower or if I go swimming), but if it is just that you don't want something on your arm, there are other options for timepieces. There are chainless pocket watch-type things that clip onto wherever you want to clip it or zipper pulls with digital clocks on them (you can use them on your clothes or bag), among other options. Quicker and you won't waste cell phone battery power every time you want to know the time.
