Hi,
I just read that the night we're going to MNSSHP (11 Oct) is sold out - has anyone been on a sell out night and is it still a wee-bit less crowded than usual or should I be planning long waits?

What are you planning to do during the party?
Exclusives like the M&G with the 7 dwarfs and Jack and Sally are going to have very long queues! You may queue for them before the party begins. Your wait will not be lower (might even be more), but at least most of it will not be during the party.
At the opening night Josh of easywdw queued for Jack and Sally at 6:30 and was out at 8:00. :scared1:

The first Boo to you parade will be crowded, so head for the second one, it will be easier to get a good spot on the Main Street. I've seen it in Frontierland and in Main Street and the latter is much better.

If instead you want to ride attractions, they will be mostly empty all night.

For many more tricks, I suggest to read this guide:

The party is not sold out

The party you've heard of being sold out (11 oct) is at Disneyland (California) not Disneyworld (Florida)

Thanks everyone - panic over - the blog is DLC teach me to read more carefully in the future!

In case it does happen, we were at a sold out party in 2011

It was much busier than the other parties we did before and since but it was still far more manageable than being in the park on a hectic night. I think you feel it more during party nights because a lot of the activity is concentrated in select areas and the shows and parades etc are running with little interval in between.

We had a blast that night and got loads done, including meeting the 7 dwarves. There were other DISers there that night too, quite a few from the UK board - some posted that it was terrible - others found it absolutely fine. What you expect has some bearing on how you perceive it to be. Have a strategy in place, just a loosely even, so that you don't wander around aimlessly and waste time, be aware that many of the walkways around the castle and access through the castle are roped off for the better part of the evening and plan accordingly and you will be fine, even if it does sell to capacity.

Most importantly, have a blast !! :cheer2:

We went on 31st Oct last year, it was busy but I didn't find it overly crowded. I had been getting a bit worried as from other posts I'd seen I'd been expecting it to be a complete zoo!

The crowd did thin a lot during the evening, the 2nd parade was much quieter. We didn't do the meet and greets with the rare characters so can't really comment on the lines for them.

Our MNSSHP night was sold out last year - it was still fine and we had a great time!:goodvibes

I have been to the Xmas party on a sold out night. Personally I wouldn't bother with rides. You can do those any day. There's a bottom line here. If you want a good view of the parade and fireworks you need to wait it out. At Xmas after the parade we just stood still waiting for the fireworks so had a great view. Get there early with a realistic plan would be my advice.
