i'm still going...flying down in like 13 hours. if i was flying on monday, tuesday, or wednesday, i'd still be thinking about rebooking...but i'd wait until the day before until i rebooked. since i'm flying on saturday, i know my flight will be safe. i'll probably have 2 good days before the storm hits. once it hits, i might be stuck in the hotel, and that's fine with me--that's the downside to saving money and booking during hurricane season.
at this point going down there and sitting out a storm will be less stressful than trying to rebook with my
travel agent who lives on the west coast of FL and is trying to pack up her family and is most likely NOT in the mood to help me. add that changing my plans at work--it's tough for me to get time off.
honestly, i think hurricanes are the worst type of disaster. i can't think of another type of disaster that we can see slowly inching towards us, allowing us to prepare, yes, but also allowing us to get all hysterical about the possible devistation. it's like the most horrible torture. with tornados, car accidents, hell--even terrorist attacks--it happens and we do what we can to survive. hurricanes are just torture, at least that's my opinion, and i think that might be fueling some of the overwhelming fear we're seeing now on some of the boards.
everyone has to make the decision they feel is right for them, and no one should feel guilty for it.
