Hi Dis friends,

Heading to the world tomorrow. We will be purchasing a park hopper when we get there. Can someone shed some light on how the new bands work with fast passes with hoppers? I'm a Disney vet, but haven't been down since the change and the whole thing confuses me.

Do you only get three a day or do you get more as you use them?

Can you use them in different parks?

I'm sure there are a million threads like this, so linking me to a good one that explains and isn't 100 pages long would also really help.

Here's our plan,

Magic Kingdom in the morning: as early as we can stand(likely 9 or 10 - we're not morning people)

Ride:
Mine train
Jingle cruise
The three headliners
Maybe pirates

Monorail to Epcot
Ride soarin (if there is time)
Test track (if there is time)
1:45 Dining plan for candle light - morocco

5pm candlelight processional

Boat to MGM for Osbourne lights

Bus to MK for wishes and last minute rides we want to do.

Monorail to hotel to see lobbies (GF, Poly, Contemp) drive to Wilderness and Boardwalk.

Go home.

Any advice or things you think I'm missing would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

The thread linked to below in my signature is a hundred pages long, but you only need to read the first post most likely.

My 1st thought is getting all that done in one day, this time of year is tall order. You can get it done and awesome when you do! Mine train will be tough and to do it, I recommend you pour come coffee and transform into a morning person being there before open and in time for "Rope drop".

Make Mine train 1st priority. There will still be a wait and while waiting you can setup MyDisneyExperience with you MagicBands and do FP+ (or do you have to do day of on kiosk?) I don't know that much yet either.

You might want to make your FP for over at Epcot and just use good crowd control on the rides at MK.

Yes they give you more once you use 1st 3. No you cannot make them for a different park until 1st 3 are gone but that leaves you at the mercy of availability and remember. People booked 6 mos ago and are over in Epcot already.

Tons of info in the first post of the link that mesaboy2 gave you.

Yes you can get more fastpasses... once the original three are used.
You can book one additional FP after the first three.
You can book an additional one, once the previous one is done.
You can keep doing this as long as there's availability.
Keep in mind that each FP+ is good for an hour with no overlap, so your first three will cover a minimum three hour period.
eg. 7DMT 8-9, BTMRR 9-10, Splash 10-11

You can book fastpasses in different parks... sorta.

Let's assume you've booked FP+ for MK rides already, or are planning to when you arrive.
You can book fastpasses for Soarin' and TT... but only after your first three FP+ are done and you are physically in epcot.

Whether or not there'll be any available is up to the Disney gods.

We just returned from Disney. We left on Wednesday, and the Christmas crowds were already building. If you get to magic kingdom at 9 or 10, you need to be prepared that mine train will easily have a 90 minute wait by then. It had a 60 min wait by 9am when we were there, and it wasn't crowded yet. So I'd build that wait time into your plan. If you haven't already booked your fp+, I wouldn't plan on using them at EPCOT on Soarin or test track. They may already be gone.

Thanks everyone for your replies! We are driving there right now, looking at a 1030 arrival. If there are any fast passes for mine train left and they are after Wishes, would it be worth it to take that and forgo fast passes in other parks? Or are the lines significantly reduced after Wishes? Thanks!

There probably won't be any fast passes for mine train. They sell out when the resort guests book them 60 days in advance. Disney released more about a month ago for December, but those are gone too. when we were there last week, mine train waits after wishes were still 45-60 minutes. I have no idea what it will be like during the busiest week of the year.

You'll get on, you just need to prepare yourself to wait.

Remember. If you wait in line when the park closes you can still ride. If you want to roll that dice (no break down) that might be the way to go. Use FP+ at EPCOT and use good strategy at MK in the morning.
