How many out there go straight to their stateroom after you board? We always do. We drop off our carry-ons and tell who ever is working in the room or hall that we are just dropping off and then we go have our lunch and make all the reservations. Rarely is the room ready but we don't drag our carry-ons all around the ship with us. Kathy

I am the same way! I don't have kids and don't care for Palo, so there is really no need to me to do the reservation scramble. We always drop our bags in the room, then head to the spa to make our appointments. By skipping the spa tour and going directly for the reservation desk (which they always do such a good job of hiding), we get ahead most of the herd being led around on the tour. Also, when we did the the seven night Eastern, we enjoyed Palo's brunch, so that will be an extra stop next year when we do the seven night Western.

We go to the stateroom right after boarding. Like that we don't have to carry our carry-on with us.

When we boarded in February on the Magic, we tried twice to get to our cabin to drop our carryon's and were turned away by CM's both times. They were blocking the hallways, and turning anyone who was trying to get onto our deck away, saying come back after 1:30.

Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe there was a problem that day, and they were behind, but we were forced to take our carryons to lunch with us, which was a real pain!

The two times we have gone on DCL, we have gotten on the ship after 1:30 PM. The little cards they give you in the terminal do say that rooms are available after 1:30 PM. How the housekeeping CMs police that policy is what I am not sure about, seeing I have always arrived after the fact.

On 2 cruises, we have always gone right to our room. On our first cruise we boarded a little late because we came on the DCL bus from POR. On our second, we boarded right with the initial line, but still went right to our room. We didnt want lunch as we had a huge breakfast at the Kona Cafe. When we arrived all the doors in our area were open. We found our host and asked if we could go in and he said sure. We did our introductions, he had us sign for our CC gifts and were in around 12:30.

On our first cruise, we went straight to our room to drop off our luggage. Many CM's stopped us along the way. One even told us that our keys might not even work yet. Well, they did and we dropped off our luggage and continued to explore bagless, thank you very much. :)

Now, the CM's weren't rude or anything. They were all just "directing" us to the lunch buffet. But we got to the ship very early and had just eaten a late breakfast, so we were ready to explore!

We plan to do the same thing on our June cruise this year!
