Has anyone been..we are flying in on Sunday and renting a car to go to the beach..anyone have any tips on the best beach(not for swimming) just to take a lazy stroll and look at the ocean for my wife and daughters for the first time ever?

How about Jetty Park in Cocoa Beach? It's about an hour's drive on 528 (the Beachline expressway) and has a nice pier you can walk out on, as well as lots of restaurants in the area. If you're there at the right day/time, you may even see the cruise ships sailing out.

Didn't really care for Coco Beach, but it was alright. The main reason we went there was because we drove to Tittusville to stop at Dixie Crossroads Restaurant!!!

I would also suggest St.Augustine, not only do you get the beach but you can also see the historic area.St George street is a pretty cool pedestrian street with shops and restaurants, they also have trolley tours to take you around and if you're up for some climbing go up on the St Augustine lighthouse, which they say is haunted.

just got back from daytona beach and it is amazing. I can imagine if you go at the wrong time of year though it could be crazy. it was very mello while was there though and it was great, so much to see and do if yougettired of the beach... stayed at the Hilton on the beach, great hotel right on the beach

Just wondering if anyone has every done a day trip down the cost towards Miami? My hubby would love to go watch his beloved Leafs play while we are in Florida, but they play in Miami, and on MapQuest it is a 3 hour drive. The arena is actually in Sunrise. Would that be to much for one day. Or is it a nice drive, any info appreciated!

We go to New Smyrna Beach, which is about an hour away. We mainly go there because the dogs are allowed, but it really is just beautiful. Last time we went we parked ourselves on the lagoon, not the ocean. It felt like we had our own private island. Not to mention a sea turtle and pod of dolphins were providing our entertainment. :)

Orlando to Sunrise is a pretty far drive, so unless it's something you really, really want to do then I would skip it. The drive isn't really too nice, once you get to Palm Beach there will be quite some traffic straight through to Sunrise, especially depending on what times you are driving.

The drive is pretty easy if you stick to the Turnpike and Sawgrass expressway, about 3 hours sounds right.I would do it,but if the game is at night I wouldn't think about driving back to Orlando. There are several hotels in the area and the huge Sawgrass Mills Mall right next to the arena.
