Help me settle an arguement : Is there anyone else beside me that likes to take in a movie while vacationing at WDW?

I'll go first - Yes!!! I really enjoy seeing a movie on vacation and the theaters at Pleasure Island are great!

The AMC at DTD is amazing. Catching a flick is a great thing to do if you aren't feeling especially adventurous on your first night, and just want to relax but not sit in your room. For those that don't live near big city multi-plexes at home, it also can just be a treat to see 24 screens under one roof. It can also be a great idea for those who love to shop - the rest of your party can be entertained for a couple of hours while you shop DTD. This way it doesn't feel so much like splitting up.

I hate to plug another park (hehe), but the theater at Citywalk is also very good (off the top of my head, I can't remember - is it Sony?). I saw Moulin Rouge there and the sound was spectatular. It's also very conveniently located - it's pretty much the first thing you hit when you get to the end of the parking area and reach CityWalk.

Would I spend a great deal of time watching commercial films? No, but on days when you aren't doing parks and would just like to sit in a nice, air conditioned theater that WON'T spray you with water, make funny smells, or otherwise attempt to stimulate every sense for maximum effect they can be very relaxing.

We will usually take in one movie each trip--during the day, when we are already at DD doing our Disney shopping.

I'll usually go in the evening towards the end of my trip, when I'm too worn out from all my adventures to take another step, but I still want to get out and do something. Those theaters are great!

I never go to the movies while at Disney. I can do that at home. Along with sleep. ;)

I saw Lion King at Disneyworld, there is nothing like hearing Zazu sing Its a small world and Scar complaining about it and being in Disneyworld.

Only if there's something good playing :) but usually no. If I do go, it would probably be on a weekend afternoon

Typically I would say no, since we really don't have the time. But last May, we did go watch Shrek2 just cause we had time to kill before Cirque du Soleil. It was kinda nice but I still felt guilty about it.

Probably... if there is a movie out that I want to watch. I am usually too busy to go to the movies, so what better time than when I'm on vacation? So, yes, I go to the movies in WDW, provided there is a film I want to watch.

We truely have a hard time fitting everything we want to do in and there's so much to do that we don't get to do at home that we've never been to the movies at WDW. Now I'm not saying it will never happen, and I like that it's available, but we just haven't done that before.

Every trip, I suggest this to DH at some point, just to give our tootsies a rest. Every trip, his answer is a resounding 'NO!' His theory is that he can go to the movies at home, but he can't ride Space Mountain at home. A good argument, I suppose, by my feet don't always agree! LOL

We always take in a movie or two while in Disney and US ...We usually have a dinner out and then to the movie...

I said no yet we actually talked about this being a posability this time around.

No

Although i did see Castaway when it was out back in the day. I saw it at the Downtown Disney AMC i think it was.

Yes!!, It has now become kind of a tradition to hit downtown disney and go to the movies while we are at Disney (assuming there is a childrens movie there). Yeah, you can do it at home and all that jazz, but theres something different about doing it when your away on vacation. Every little thing you do while on vacation is better, including going to the movies. Its the perfect thing to do to take a break from running around every day.

Sure! We always pick a "no-park" day for shopping and a movie on each trip. It's become a tradition for us and the kids look forward to it.

No, absolutely not! The rule of thumb is "don't do anything you can do at home that is just as nice." That means no movies, no Planet Hollywood or Shula's or Bongo's (try to guess where we live :) ) no McDonald's fries at MK, AK or Epcot, etc. We really try to avoid the stuff we could do on any given weekend at home.

I always find it so odd that Johnny Rockets on Miami Beach is packed with tourists every day for lunch. There are so many wonderful places to eat over there, isn't there a Johnny Rockets in every mall in America? That goes for the TGI Friday's on the corner of 5th and Ocean Drive, too. I just don't get it.

/end rant.

yes-We always allow one day for DTD and if there is a movie out we want to see, we take it in. We saw Home on the Range on opening day and then went to the pin shop and bought the Opening Day pin. We thought that was pretty cool!
