Going to OKW in 3 days.....some ???s

Happy Day!

We're going to OKW on Saturday. Is there anything I should know/bring/leave home?

We didn't make any room requests (gasp!!) except to request non-smoking. We'll probably end up in Timbuktu but Oh Well!! At least we'll be in Disney World!!!

My main question is about the studios. Are there toasters in the rooms? I was hoping to bring english muffins/Pop Tarts etc. and would be pretty bummed if I couldn't toast them. If there isn't one in the room, can you requ

There should be a toaster in the room if not just call and housekeeping will gladly bring you one. If you are staying in a studio you might want to bring a cork screw if you are planning on relaxing on your balcony with a glass of wine. Plastic/paper plates & cups, coffee and filters, laudry detergent and dryer sheets and a sharp knife --if you want to cut cheese to go with the wine, LOL, are also handy to have in a studio.

With a Saturday check in and late in October you should have a choice of where your room will be with the new first come first serve. You will notice that the MS will be scrolling down her or his computer to get you a room. If you have some preference as to where you room is located then speak up, you probably have many choices. Bring a large band aid (I am not kidding) to cover the peep hole in the door at night. In all studios the light shines right through the peep hole and hits you in the face on the bed closest to the door. It is just the way they constructed the buildings with the door light shinning right through like that.

This is so funny, but so true, I had forgotten about the peep holes in OKW studio door! They DO hit you with a beam of light on the bed closest to the door! Pack the large bandaids!! The other DVC studios have a enterance hallway that then leads to the kitchenette and bathroom sink area before you come to the beds so the door peep hole is a non issue, but at OKW the door opens up right next to the beds in a studio, so pack the large bandaids.

That is SO funny about the peephole! Thanks so much for that valuable tip!! We always bring a hefty first aid kit, so we're covered. Literally. LOL!! These are just the little factoids that I need!!

Do you think we'll still have a pretty good choice of rooms given that we probably won't get to the resort until around 3:00 pm? I'm going to think positive and let the Pixie Dust take care of things!

Thanks for the tips and for reminding me about some essentials I need to pull out of the kitchen cabinets from home!

Actually, I think you'll enjoy Timbuktu... it's one of the nicest areas at the resort! We've been there (and back) several times and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

the only problem I have had when I didn't request was with the view - you couldn't see anything - it was the back part of the golf view and a hill in front and trees all around.

Since then I always request a view - I really love the water views where other people love the golf views - it just depends upon what you want.

We are "going home" on Sunday, and I am actually hoping for a room in Timbuktu (as long as it has a view of water)!
This will be our first visit to OKW in a one bedroom and I am so excited!!!!

We are just back from OKW for a week stay, and I was going to post about the peep hole light, but you beat me to it.

Another thing that we have to do is shut the bathroom door at night as the large window near the ceiling must have an exterior light right next to it as it lights up the bathroom brilliantly. Other than those two peculiarities, the studios at OKW are the best!
