Going to New Orleans this weekend and need advice on a hotel

We are going to New Orleans this weekend and I want to make sure the hotel is not in a bad area. We are staying at the Radisson on Veterans Memorial Blvd near the airport. Should we cancel the reservation or is it okay to stay there?
