Going to Magic Kingdom from offsite

Hi everyone-

Due to Hurricane Jeanne we had to change our plans. Originally we would be at WDW right now... but instead will be flying in on Tuesday. I am a bit disapointed but am very glad we decided to post pone our trip. Mainly I just feel for all who live in Florida and have gone through this so many times this year!

We will be at CBR now just for 4 nights then we move to our time-share off property for a week. Originally we were going to do 3 parks while staying at Disney for the convenience of using their transportation. THat will be impossible now with a 2 year old there is just no way we could do 3 parks in 4 days. Now we will be coming from off site to MK on Tuesday October 5th. I have ALWAYS stayed on-site when visiting Disney Parks and have always been at the gate before they opened enjoyed walking down main street and waiting with the crowds for them to let the rope drop.

My question is will we be able to do this coming in form off site? Will we be able to get to the parking lots before park opening and to the gates? What if we want to "hop" parks that day. (We have park hopper tickets) Any advice from someone who has done this before would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you can still be at the gates as early as everyone else. When we park hop we just get back into our car and drive to the next one.

We always stayed offsite in the past and drove to MK. To parkhop, we would take the monorail to another park and just take it back to MK when we wanted to leave and then take the tram to our car.

I must be missing something because I always am able to do 4 parks in 4 days. I take advantage of the "park hopper" and go from the smaller parks to the bigger parks in the evenings and get to see everything I'm interested in.

I don't do the parks commando style but I usually keep moving at my own pace. But I do find that gift shops bore me and I usually skip all of them and just head for the attractions. That makes the World Showcase more of a pleasant walk then anything else. I do see the attractions offered there but the rest has little appeal to me. They may be selling but I'm not buying!

The "Unofficial Guide" recommends leaving your car at the park you will finish up at and take disney transportation the rest of the day. IE: If going to MK 1st and MGM 2nd leave your car in the morning at MGM. I havent tried it but it seems to make sense unless you want to go back to the hotel or off property for lunch...etc.

We always drive from park to park unless we are moving between Epcot and MK. It is just as easy as taking the bus, and other than at MK I would say it was faster.

I didn't "get" that last-park advice, either. It seems more important to be at your first park at the opening bell, so you'd want to go directly to the park at which you "start", though I suppose it could be less hassle to park at, say, Studios and take a bus direct to MK, bypassing the TTC and the early-morning monorail crowd (if, in fact, you do bypass the TTC).

It is harder for off-siters to get into the park at opening bell (aka rope drop) since the first monorail and first ferry pull into MK around 15 minutes before. By then thousands of on-siters have already gone in or are at the turnstiles. You would have to be one of the first to arrive at TTC. That I guess would be about 7:45.

If you do want to make rope drop, you would drive to the first park. The idea of leaving your car at the last park you plan to be at eliminatest he problem of finding inter-park transportation reduced to skeleton levels by the time you go huntin for your car if you don't drive from park to park.

Inter-park buses to and from MK stop at TTC only.

We were thinking of "hopping" to Epcot and my brain must not be functioning today because i totaly forgot about taking the monorail. That should be pretty simple to do.

Yep, the monorail is the way to go! Very easy to park hop from MK to EP
