Hi, DD10, DM, and I are going to LL in a few weeks (Sunday, after spring break) and we haven't been there for quite a few years. I think DD was 5 or 6. We've only been twice in total.

So, from those of you who have been several times, or just recently, looking for some recommendations for:

Lunch and/or dinner
Best rides:goodvibes
Worst rides-skip it.:confused3

A little about our group. We are thrill seekers. DD is tall enough to ride all the rides at LL. Last time we were there she rode the dragon coaster and loved it! That was 5 years ago. She has moved onto ToT, Maliboomer, Screamin', etc.

I remember we ate at the same place, both times. Can't remember the name-maybe it was The Market, the Beginning? Seems like I remember it was pretty good.

It says you can't bring in any food or beverages. Is this for sure?

Is there a security bag check?

TIA.

Have fun!

Our fave place to eat is CastleBurger - right outside the entrance to the Dragon.

Your thrill rides are all on the right side of the park - Project X, Dragon, Knight's Tournament. I also like the Search for the Lost Temple ride (or whatever it's called) - like WDW's Toy Story ride but with a Indiana Jones overlay.

Fairy Tale Brook is for when you need a nap. DD says it's lame to others, but always wants to ride it!

Avoid the log ride. Lamer than lame.

Dune Raiders - has two possible ways down - one with the bags and the other through regular corkscrew slides.

At the back is the Hideout playground - big, huge, and DD always enjoys going there.

Pirate's cove has the water park area if she's into that sort of thing. Beware that there's limited places to sit where the jokers on the soak-n-sail won't shoot you in the back.

The firetruck thing can be fun if your competition isn't a bunch of teenage boys.

Sky cruisers we've done a total of once ever (and we're passholders). It always has a 45 minute wait minimum! We like the Sky tower ride better.

We've never brought more than snacks and water in; I can't remember seeing many people eat their own food.

No bag check, but I've never brought in more than an oversized purse.

Have fun!

Deb

Thanks for the tips.

Didn't know about the Indy type ride-sounds cool!

One more thing-Coke or Pepsi?

Thanks for all the great questions - and great answers. I never thought to ask them about LL!!

We've only been to LL once so I'm no expert but here's what we did. We brought our lunch in a cooler that we left in the car and then we just went to the parking lot at lunch time, grabbed our lunch and ate on the grassy area outside the park (near the parking lot). That worked out well for us and since the parking lot is so close to the park it wasn't a very long walk to get our stuff. Also, for dinner we left and went over to the outlets that are near LL and ate at Ruby's.

Have fun! I hope you report back since you always give good mini trip reports about your adventures.

Thanks for the compliment:hug:

I like the idea of bringing something and eating on the grass. Since LL closes at 5 I'm thinking of we'll eat dinner on the way home. Maybe at Souplantation in Temecula. We love SP but the closest one to use is about 1/2 hour away so we don't get to go too often.:confused3

I definitely plan on doing a TR. :goodvibes

Wondering the same thing :)

Also, I noticed OP's DD is 10. Our sons are 10 and 12 and while watching some videos on YouTube, we concluded they are a little old for most of the rides they would try. (DS12 loved the mountains at WDW at age 7 but not so much at age 10) :confused3They are both lego fanatics and are begging to go anyway. Thoughts and opinions???

I think DD10 maybe getting a little old for most of the rides as well but we got a reallly good price on tix for the Girl Scouts. Though there are some rides that have fairly tall height restrictions.

The troop is planning on going on 4-18. I'll post a TR after we go. Maybe that will help. Of course if you have 2 DS that are really into Legos, so thats a big plus.

If Lego is all Pepsi, I'll be bringing in some Diet Cokes in my Baggalini. :cool1::cool1:

ADDED-I searched all over the internet and couldn't find the answer-Coke or Pepsi-so I sent them an email.

I think you already got some great tips. I would head right and start with Project X, technic roller coaster then continue counter clockwise. Next go to the Adventure section and do the Indy type ride. Then keep going up to Dragon and the Knights Tournament, etc.

The Dinosaur coaster up front is very tame but great for little ones, your group might not get much fun out of it. I also would avoid the sky cruiser unless there is no line. It does have great views but no thrill and not worth a huge line. I can't believe pregnant ladies are not allowed to ride. It goes about 5 mph!

In the afternoon I like to get something cold and wander through Miniland just taking it all in. The models of American cities are amazing.

I don't have much restaurant recomendation. I usually eat hot dogs at the place in Fun Town. There is a nice outlet mall right nearby with Panda and Rubios if you are looking for inexpensive. I like to eat dinner at Fish House Vera Cruz in Carlsbad, but it seems to be not as good as I remember it being in the past. It is very famliy friendly though!

There is a place right at The Beginning that has many healthy snacks and boxed sandwiches, organic cookies, etc.

Thanks-sounds like a great touring plan. I think DD10 may have outgrown the Dragon coaster-last time she was just tall enough and rode it several times.
