Going to Hilton Head in February!

We originally had reservations at OKW for President's week but I called MS today to check availability for HH. We are only going for 5 nights and HH is a shorter drive than OKW. I know it won't be as warm but this is a relaxing vacation so HH will be just fine.

Anyway, why I am telling you this . . .we didn't have enopugh points for the stay so we planned on paying cash for a few nights hoping to get the member discount. The rate at OKW for a studio was $246.00 per night. This is the good part . . the rate at HH for a 2 bedroom is $123.75 per night. Yes, a 2 bedroom! I was shocked. I even asked MS "Are you sure? that seems very cheap to me". (which could have been a mistake to ask) but she replied, yes, it does seem like a very good deal but let me check it again . . .yes, it is correct, $123.75 per night for a 2 bedroom!

So if you thought you couldn't get away because you don't have the points, give HH a try. It's a great relaxing resort.

Disney Visa has a special for certain HH winter dates for $99.00 for a 2-BR. If you have one, you may want to check it out for your dates. My guess is Pres week wouldn't apply, but you never know.

HH is pretty cheap all the way around that time of year. Be perpared for cool or cold weather.

This does appear to be out-of-balance and supports my theory that HHI and VB are not the best use of points. The $124 rate come out to $5.90 per point (21 per night) while the studio rate of $246 comes out to $22.36 per point (11 per night). What this says to me is that if you bought DVC to stay in HHI in February every year it actually costs more than cash. Certainly no one would ever rent points to go to HHI off season.

the 2-bedroom is priced at $165 per night from the DVC resort website

$165 * 25% = 41.25 (your DVC discount)

$165-$41.25=$123.75
