We are going to DVC at HH next week. We fly into Savannah and want to get lunch there before going on to the island. A few years ago we ate a place that had been featured in a movie or book. I think we had fried chicken, watermelon and my son's favorite sweet tea. (we don't usually have sweet tea in Oklahoma so it was a treat). I can't remember the name but might want to go back. Does anyone know? Also now I'm reading about the My Lady and Sons Buffet. Can anyone tell me about that? Is that the one that is in a basement? Thanks

Here's the website for the other restaurant:

I'm going to be in HH this August, and I want to be sure to go to her restaurant. I just love her cooking show!

We ate at Lady and Sons in March and loved it. We were deciding between there and Mrs. Wilkes, but in doing research on other websites, it seems that since Mrs. Wilkes died a few years back, reports on the restaurant have been mixed, at best. Lady and Sons has their own website, which will tell you what is on the menu and buffet. We opted for the buffet when it was there, and it was really good. Great mashed potatoes. Lady (Paula Deane) was even there when we went. Make sure you have reservations ahead of time.

There was a fantastic article in the sprintime issue of VACATION MAGIC that talked all about HH and Savanah and Chareston. It was great and helped us plan our trip. The writers of the magazine seemed to have gone there and researched things to do. It was like something you'd read in a travel magazine or something. Very nice to see. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Only one place to consider IMO, Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House. Just don't plan much for dinner that night.

Wow, this brings back memories. Mrs. Wilkes is still there? I was there with my mom and dad and brothers 30 years ago on at least one, but probably two of our trips to HH!It was the first time I had ever seen okra and collard greens, and I still won't eat it, but the rest was some of the best food ever. We loved the family style dining.
